2013 vs 2.5 questions

I have an old license for 2013 and haven't played in years...but I want to return but keep reading 2013 is "garbage", I understand it's because of crashes? is it still unstable? are there other reasons why its "garbage"?

Is the game mostly the same in both versions? the match engine etc?

I'm wondering if I should spend another $20 to buy 2.5 if I already have 2013, and if 2.5 is not "too old" in terms of presentation. Can you play it in 1920 resolution like a modern game (and like 2013 is capable of)?

Thanks!

The game engine is identical

The biggest problem I had with 2013 was it randomly changing fighters to 0 ratings

Absolutely agree!! Also random fighters will change weight classes and I even had fighters just disappear.

Ever so often, I get the urge to try 2013 again. It doesn't take long before I think "Oh yeah, I remember now why I can't commit to 2013".

Sounds scary. I guess I should go with 2.5 too but...

I've downloaded the 2.5 demo, and as I feared, it seems like the resolutions it supports are ancient. It's currently a tiny window on my monitor unless i change to the full screen option which changes my entire system resolution to 1024...that's horrible.

Is there any solution to this or are you all playing it inside this tiny window with tiny text?

I had 2013 and ran a universe for a couple of months and then, without warning, the game crashed and wouldn't restart properly, usually freezing on the main screen before crashing.

I have 2.5 on a 17" laptop, running WIN 7, full screen.
