Historical Replay (Players retire but still play)
I did a real MLB sim starting in 1915 with real lineups and transactions. A couple of players, one of them was Jackie Robinson, didn't retire when they were suppose to and stayed on as a bench player until the age of 52 when I noticed it and unretired him, then retired him again and he was done. I had another guy that had played 60 seasons before I noticed it and did the same with him.
These players were listed as retired but still were playing in a bench role. I am guessing a few others snuck through still playing. I noticed Jackie Robinson because he is Jackie Robinson and the other guy after playing 60 seasons started creeping up on the hits leaderboard before I noticed that one. You can get some weird stuff happening when using historical minors with historical transactions, which is why we clearly state on the setup screen that these options are not recommended to be used together.
That being said, this is something we should be able to fix up.

Do you by any chance have the option to 'prevent AI moves' checked or any other custom options that differ from the default?

Everything is default except I changed it to 3 year recalc instead of 1. The results are great in the 100 years of past history. Rickey Henderson and Nolan Ryan(outliers) performed even more impressively than their already amazing career but most players landed with 3 percent of their career numbers. I was impressed. |

Here is a listing of some of the retired but still playing names in case there is something to do with the names. (Sorted by games played)

Probably a silly question but do you have “retire according to history” checked? I think you do since they retired once.

No silly questions in regards to this bug. Yes, it was checked. The players that seem to keep playing seem random so Im not sure how they might find the bug. It doesnt make a lot of sense since they are retired to still be on the bench.

Yes, it looks like there may be some cases where a historical transaction tries to bring a player back from retirement. We can certainly correct that for the next patch. Did you have any other settings enabled in the historical setup?

No, just the basic setup other than changing it to 3 year recalc with double weight on current season. I started in 1915.

I can manually make them retire by unretiring them, and then going back to retire them. That will clear them out. |
