Catcher ability

Hey guys,

I play almost exclusively the online league play (so much fun) and pretty much stay away from PT nowadays.

Anyways, my questions revolve around catcher ability in OOTP 22 and OOTP 23.

First question: Did CA change much with 23 vs. what it was in 22 and if so, in what manner did it change? My impression is that CA is essentially what we call "Pitch framing". If there's more to it than that would like to hear more!

Second question: I play historical leagues and have noticed the vast majority of catchers have a 45-50 CA. In fact I've only noticed 1 or 2 above that. Does CA play a lesser role in historical leagues than more modern ones? In other words would CA be almost non important in say a 1960's historical league?

Hope that makes sense. TIA!

The game uses catcher ability for errors, passed balls, and framing. The framing effect has been toned down from what it was in ootp21. For historical s the rating is based on the error and passed balls rates for catchers against the league average. When using the 100 scale 50 is league average and this is why you see many catchers near that rating.

Thanks for the reply. If I was to find a catcher with a CA of 65 (vs. say my current catchers 45), how much of an impact would that have on my staff? I would assume it impacts the control ratings of the pitchers he's catching for?
