How would you define the boxing eras?
Hey guys! I have been looking for a good way of labeling the different eras of boxing from the Ancient Era (pre-1600) to today. I have searched the internet and have been surprised to find that there is not more of a solid opinion on this. I have found differing opinions and kind of came up with this list. I am not completely sure that I like it, but it is the best I have come up with since searching. What would you change or at least rename?
Boxings Different Eras: The Ancient Era (Pre-1600s) The Bare-Knuckle Era (1600s) The First Set of Rules Era (1700s) The London Price Ring Rules Era (1830s) The Marquess of Queensberry Rules Era (1860s) The Outlaw Era (1890-1919) Boxing was illegal in many areas The Birth of Modern Boxing Era (1920 1955) The Golden Era (1955 1975) The Silver Era (1975-2000) The Contemporary Era (2000s) Maybe even split the 2000's into eras now that we are 22 years in? Any ideas? I am not a huge fan of calling the era by a boxer's name like the "Mike Tyson Era". Al though that definitely makes sense. Whatcha think the ERAS are? |

Hard to nail down...
The Dark Ages: Prior to the London Prize Ring Rules London Prize Ring Era Marquess of Queensberry Era AKA the Early Glove Era (1860s to about 1904) The Big Money or International Era (about 1905 to 1919) Then comes the Roaring 20s, the Dirty 30s, The Modern Era, The TV Era, etc. That's how I see it anyway.
