Historical to Fictional

Is it possible to start a Historical League (so I have all the history, Cobb, Ruth, Cy Young...) then pick a year and transition it to a Fictional League, only importing fictional players after a certain date?
It's probably been asked before but I couldn't find it.

I could be wrong on this so backup your league 1st. Go to League Settings - Global?-database and delete the database path. Also uncheck import real rookies from that screen also. You could probably do one or the other and get fictional players but without a database, there is nowhere to draw the players from. Without the 2nd one, you may get 0 players in the draft.

I'm also curious about this, so I tested both steps, deleting the historical DB path and unchecking import real rookies. Unfortunately, the game isn't automatically creating fictional players. I can manually create them with no problem, but the game isn't doing it automatically.

I suspect you are forgetting to uncheck the option to prevent fictional draft classes. It will be in your MLB league settings, under the rules tab and is by default checked in any historical league setup to prevent fictional draftees from being created. Uncheck it and, combined with the steps you did above, you should start getting fictional players in your upcoming draft classes.

Maybe the issue is I haven't checked "Enabled amateur draft." I wanted rookies to appear as FAs for many years, but maybe that isn't going to work.

I believe you have to have an amateur draft to get the fictional players to show up in a historical setup. But as a sort of work-around you could set your draft to just one round and create players for 10-20 rounds and you would get a lot of free agents. That is the best solution I can think of off the top of my head.

One issue I'm having is the game only creates enough players for a one-round draft. It seems historical saves don't give you the option to generate X number of players for a draft, so you have to create them manually as FAs.
