When to call up rookie

It’s Sept 1 and I have a MiL player who will play the full season next year. He has zero MLB days. I expect to go deep in the playoffs (3x7 games series) and want to call him up ASAP without using up a year of team control. I understand both Sept days on the roster and playoff games count towards the 45 days so I’m thinking of calling him up mid-Sept so he doesn’t go over. Does this sound right? I’d like to call him up now but I’m afraid of going over the 45 days.

Edit: got it, playoffs don’t count as service time.

45 days does not equal a full year. in the MLB it's something around 170 days. You're safe to call him up. Assuming you haven't changed the setting for the number of service days = 1 year
