Settings serve no function?

How does this happen?

Attempting to turn off anything that causes a "stolen base" (so including hit & run), due to the 50% throw-out rates for anyone under 90-100 speed or so.

Every player in roster has stealing bases & hit and run set to never. I also set sacrifice bunt and bunt for hit to zero, because unsure if one (or both) may include squeeze bunts. That wouldn't be an issue for this particular image, but ..

The more I muck with things, the more these settings seem more cosmetic, vs. actually having meaning ... well, for "Perfect League", anyway.

yup, included those in the image

they are set to override global, but also set to never steal or hit & run. was just trying to cover all the bases (since in theory global wouldn't matter, but ...)

My guess would be that setting Stealing Bases to "Never" means your 3B Coach never puts on a steal sign. Not that he puts on a red light sign on every pitch.

I tweaked one of my teams' baserunning last week, about halfway through the season. They went from minus figures up to about +8 and 2nd in their conference. This week, same players and settings, -18 - with -15 coming from just a third of the season. It's hard to see what's going on, although, I have to admit to not being terribly interested in investigating at the moment.

I suspect that the ambiguity around baserunning makes it an excellent tool for the AI.

I've been playing OOTP since its very beginning. I think many of the settings are "cosmetic"; many people seem to love that because they are free to project whatever meaning they want onto their busy box.

Incliding in some part Card Ratings. I think numbering cards are cosmetic. Why would you give a LIVE player (mostly) when a LIVE 100 CARD card is really a waste. If you side by side compare any 100 card to a Live 100 card....laughable
