Badge of honor?

Why is being F2P such a badge of honor?

That was the best answer possible.

Sadly true I guess. I don't know, I'm different in that way. If I'm F2P, I keep it to myself. If I'm P2P, I keep it to myself.

If it's sadly true, I guess it's the same reason that it's a badge of honor to be different in that way? Everybody in this world finds a way to feel validated in their performance, however meaningful or silly the game.

I don't keep it to myself because there's no more reason to be discrete than to share, but everyone is welcome to spend how much they'd like and it doesn't make a lick of difference to me.

If it's any consolation to Yankees fans, I'm a White Sox fan and I hate them too.

Incorrect. But then I figured someone would take exception to something I said and point it out.

Just answering the OP… no exception taken.

I think claiming F2P status is a way of signaling "I am playing on hard more". If that is true or not is up for debate.

Dunno why it matters so much for this game (well, I guess off the top of my head, it is probably having a detrimental impact on other aspects .. like, well, the "historic" single player game)

the pay to play "stuff" is too lucrative because of a few whales and superwhales. it destroyed the MMORPG genre that I used to love so much =( ... so I thought I'd be waiting a few years after Everquest to find the next cool MMORPG (WoW wasn't for me), but 20 years later, no ... and now I don't even have the time to play such a game, oh well.

If you want to win in this game you pay... either with time or money.

There is no badge of honour for spending either too much time or money on pretend baseball, but if you're having fun it doesn't matter.

Simple...

Money WILL get you to the top,
Time COULD get you to the top,
Luck MIGHT get you to the top,
All three guarantees it.

F2P leans heavily on Time and Luck...a "coulda-mighta" scenario.

I’m not silent about being F2P, but I usually mention it in response to those lamenting that it is “impossible” to compete with those who sink money into the game. As we all know, that is incorrect. You do not need to pay in order to be competitive. You just need to be obsessive to a borderline clinical degree. I hide my spreadsheets from the world out of fear of being thrown into a padded cell.
