Ran into Bronze Vlady today.....

WOW. What a card. I immediately went to go look what it goes for because I figure it's got to be one of the most desirably cards in the game considering just how ridiculous the numbers are, and quickly learned I will never afford it

Is there an outfielder in bronze that is anywhere close to being on that level in your opinion? He's my vote for strongest hitter in all of bronze.

It's too bad that I couldn't afford it back when it was going for 40-45k... it was always just a little out of reach. I've pulled a few perfect lives from packs over the past week after a dry spell of a month, but... the more the owners park it in their own bronze tournaments, the less it will be available, which will only spike the price further when it is listed. Cards like bronze Vladdy are a nagging reminder of where my real life is with the housing market.

I assume one card wouldn't drastically increase my tournament team's performance on a daily basis, but since I own every other iron and bronze historical, it's also a blemishing reminder on my card shop screen for my raving compulsions.

From what I saw of the card in action, it's a REAL difference maker. It was MVP of rounds 1 and 2 and I met it in round 3, where he lost 4 games to 3 to me despite Vlady hitting .400. I might make a run at the card after seeing that. I'm going to do some data mining today and see if that's typical of him.

I've played against the card twice that I was aware of. Hit like .200 in the series against me with no home runs both times (shrug)

The Bronze Vladdy is not a bad card, but it's not giving you much in the long run that you can't get from Taffy Wright, and Wright's defense is appreciably better.

EDIT: IOW...it's not worth 45-50K if you're only playing it in Bronze tourneys.

I think it's hilarious that the day after I posted this the 50k available vlady was gone and now the only one up is 100k

That's insane. The only people paying 50K for it should be the LE collectors, and even then I'd question the sanity of the decision.

That’s why I used the housing market analogy for LE cards with an obvious budget use:

“Nobody in their right mind would pay 500k for that house... 350 would be a stretch.” [Quickly purchased sight unseen for 500k by an investment company and rented to the schmuck that couldn’t get to 350 for 3 grand a month, because there’s nothing on the market.]

The nice thing is that in a game, we can just say no.

Good? Yeah... But.

Haven't played Bronze tourneys in a while so who knows what he is now, but for the stats I did have, Guerrero came up 19th in wOBA and 12th in OBPS. There are 7 OFers ahead of him in OBPS. Hardly worth even the 50K or whatever price tag he used to have. Maybe a small sample size, but the OFers referred to all had between 2500 PA (Vladdy) and 34500 PA (Hafey)

*** The stats I have are only after the offensive "fix", so it's not like other players who have been around longer had a boost from playing prior to the fix.

This makes me feel a bit better not being able to afford him.

I only have three days of data since the live update but his RC/650 is 24th out of 121 players with at least 250 plate appearances. His wOBA is 19th. He has over 5000 plate appearances in my data so his stats should be fairly well stabilized. Grady Sizemore and Felix Mantilla are outperforming him with both having a lot more playing time to give their stats credibility. I’d probably use him because of his reverse platoon split but I would not shell out big bucks to acquire him.

You're comparing a guy's #s that is used vL and vR although I personally try to limit his ABs vR

Mantilla is a vL guy and Sizemore is a lot better vR

Apples to oranges
