Money back?

How do I go about getting my money back after purchasing OOTP 23?
I have had numerous [problems, which I have reported on these boards and via Steam(where I purchased the game), and have had no luck in having anyone help me fix the game.

I bought this for Perfect Team and was able to play about hree days, three weeks ago. I'm tired of waiting

Looks like you bought the game on steam so you will have to contact steam for a refund. They are usually pretty good until you hit a certain amount of time played then they say no. Make sure you let them know that the problems you are having when you request the refund.

Good luck

As mentioned above, any refund requests for purchases through Steam need to go through Steam's support.

Just looking at your last few posts though, I noticed both Alex and Dishnet tried to help you out. They're still waiting on you to get the trace file from you to help any further though.

All you'd have to do to get that to them would be to attach the file to a new post in the thread where you were communicating with them. If we can get that, it should help us figure out what's causing your connection issues. But we need that first in order to make any progress in figuring things out.

Totally agree. Bought the game before it came out and haven't been able to play since/. Tried everything, including buying it a second time. Received no response at all when asking for help. So much for big corporate ownership....They can't even find my license for OOTP 22, which was the only hope I had for playing the game.

Not sure if you noticed, but I did reply in the last thread where you'd mentioned this with a suggestion you update your video card drivers, as that's the most likely reason for not being able to play out a 3d game. If that doesn't do it for you, we can do some additional troubleshooting, but for the problem you're describing, that's the first potential fix.

If the game actually doesn't work for you, as seems to be the case for the poster above, then we'd very likely give a refund on a Fastspring purchase if requested, yes.

But I get the feeling that what you're calling 'unplayble' is more just about a bug, than that the game is literally unplayable. In which case, it would be up to the judgement of the customer service rep if you submit a ticket to request a refund.

I haven't played OOTP23 yet due to the reported Mac issues (facegen, etc.). Hopefully these issues will be resolved before the all-star break. Otherwise, that will be 3 months of not being able to play after release.

Yes, it's frustrating but from past experience I know that the OOTP devs are working very hard to resolve outstanding issues and improve OOTP23. Knowing this makes me hold off asking for a refund.

I’ve been playing OOTP 23 on a third generation Mac Mini since the early release date, transferred numerous season sims in progress, with no evident problems. So, without meaning to doubt that some have had issues, my experience alone suggests that the problem [1] does not rest with OOTP and [2] does not rest with Apple. Beyond that, and gentle speculation about user error (by far the most common issue for me), I can’t fathom why the game plays for some and not others. I would think that I play enough, mostly historical seasons, using 3D, that I would run across any notorious bugs. Since I also bought a version for my PC laptop, I can compare across versions, and both work (although I much prefer playing on the Mac due to superior graphics and lots more data storage capability, balanced against the weird new hidden file path for 23 that is attributed to Apple). Needless to say, I won’t be asking for my money (either purchase) back anytime soon.

OOTP23 issues have been acknowledged and documented by the OOTP development team. You choose to not use the 3D function which is well within your right.

But the rest of us Mac users would like to have all functionality available and working properly for us, as it does for PC users. Telling Mac users to not use 3D or facegen is not an acceptable option.

And this is not a hardware issue. I have the most recent MacBook Pro 16-inch 2021 version, Apple M1 Max chip, 32GB RAM, 1TB HD, Built in Liquid Retina XDR display using the MacOS Monterey.

These issues are not “user error.” I work in IT myself, as a senior systems analyst developing and implementing ERP systems. I have somewhat of an understanding of the development, testing, and production phases of software projects.

Maybe you haven't seen it but Matt, Markus, or both(?) posted about the face
gen issue. It is an issue with new apple updates breaking compatibility with face gen. There is nothing OOTP can do until Apple or face gen fix the issue. Once that is done it can be fixed in OOTP.

No idea about the 3d.

Yes, I did see the post by Markus and Matt regarding FaceGen, and that the issue is on Singular Inversions side. Thanks!

You can find some instructions here on how to generate the trace file. Once it's created, just post in the thread where Alex replied and attach the trace file to a post there (To do that, when you go to post a new post, you'll see a button called 'manage attachments' just below where you hit 'submit reply' in the post.

Click that, then click the 'choose file button', navigate to the location of the trace file on your computer, then hit the button to 'upload'. That will attach the trace file to you post and Alex will be able to view it.

Just for the record, as I said in my post, I am playing OOTP 23 using the the 3D (Classic) mode on my Mac Mini (though not always on the PC, since the laptop screen is too small to really appreciate the graphics). I haven't noticed any issue with the 3D graphics, as compared to OOTP 21 and OOTP 22 (except they seem more refined and fluid), though not sure I am as locked-in to facial stuff as I could be.

For me OOTP 22 3D seems more refined and fluid than 23. (MacBook Pro 14 inch laptop). In 22 I can read most of the small outfield signs and the players seem sharper and run smoother than in 23. In 23 they appear slightly out of focus and choppy. Maybe it is just me but one other person said they noticed the difference. Yes I realize things are inherently different one version to the next and Lukas’s response is below. I don’t blame OOTP at all, it’s just the way software (and Apple) works.

Pelican (or anyone else that wants to) while using a laptop can you look at Dodger stadium using wide view about 15 rows up behind catcher using OOTP 22 and compare that to the same view using the same setting in 23? Look especially at the small signs on the outfield wall. My MacBook is up to date and I am using the highest resolution. If anyone has a suggestion on different settings, let me know.

Lukas response
Given that the libraries used to render graphics change and get updated between versions (and on your system as well each time the OS updates) it's not always going to be the case that the same settings that worked best for the previous game will work best for the current game.
This is very likely something where you'd just have to experiment with the graphics settings to find the right settings to make 23 look sharper on your system. It may just be something as simple as playing in a higher resolution than the default. Making sure the Mac OS is up to date can help as well, as that will also update the video card drivers on your system.
