Option Rules/Doubleheader Extra Man
Per MLB rules, when we position player gets sent down, they need to stay there for 10 days, pitchers require 15. Is this in the game am i missing it? Or is it just a weird mechanic?
Also, the extra 27th man for double headers would be a huge help. I have a LOT of doubleheaders due to rainouts. And it makes my pitching staff taxed. |

The minimum option time is not in the game. My guess is the AI wouldn't understand how to handle it.
Heck, I'm not even sure the AI understands the new 5-Option rule. PFHolden picked a player off Waivers on April 21st in his sim who was waived because he had already been optioned 5 times that season. |

In my previous save, the waiver list was full of some useful players who had been optioned five times by mid-May.
I don't think the 5-option rule works well with the AI's propensity for moving players up, down and sideways on a frequent basis. (Except relievers, of course.....the AI prefers exhausted bullpens). I'll probably turn the 5-option rule off in the new save I started tonight. |

Players with options are being waived as early as *April 21st* by the AI because they've used up all 5 options. |

I am just guessing, but they probably just added a flag that keeps track of the options in a year, and prohibits going over 5. You really need an AI that understands the rule, because the AI has to think ahead. Cannot just send guys up and down without considering how many options are left. Would probably help if 10/15 day rule existed when sent down. Player would have to stay down for 10/15 days, barring any injuries to force a callup sooner, making it harder to accumulate 5 options in season. Without the 10/15 day rule is probably better to just turn rule off. I do not really think the 5 option rule comes into play that much IRL. When the new CBA was signed, I read an article that analyzed all 30 teams in 2021. Only a handful even had someone who exceeded 5 options in 2021, and the teams that did was usually only 1 or 2 players. |

Not all real life mlb rules translate well to a sim. For instance do you really want a pitch clock in ootp?

This! It would be great to see this come to play. As it stands I either need to send a player who has options down to bring up a starting pitcher for one game, or make certain my reliever who has high stamina is inserted into a 6 man rotation so he is rested as the double header approaches.
