SCP-2206 Recreation: A Series Intro
This is something I've been wanting to do for a while now, I was made aware of SCP-2206 by a friend of mine and I recreated it to the best of my ability on a game called Out of the Park Baseball. This isn't a perfect recreation as I can't make the bases 180 feet apart for one, and while I could make the Philadelphia Phantoms play only away games, I didn't bother with messing with the schedule.
The Original Article about SCP-2206 didn't make a mention of a Minor League system, so I had taken the liberty of letting the game make one up, you can read the full list here (Minor League Ranks go from AAA to R, with AAA being the highest rank). Feel free to make up your own "Note" about any Minor League team Enjoy the "Introduction" below The Scene Maximum League Baseball had been around since 1903 and is run by the current Commissioner who had been running the League for the past 20-odd years since 1998 only to be ousted in late 2019, banished to another universe, and returned to reassume his position as League Commissioner in April 1st, 2020 after a game played between a combined National/American League All-Star team and a mystery team put together by the Commissioner himself to determine his fate which resulted in a victory for the Commissioner's team. The Full details of his period of disappearance were kept a secret between the Commissioner himself and Chris Fernandez, the Boston Red Shirts owner, New York Urbans owner John Nolin, and Montreal Volcanoes owner Sergio Ruybal. Due to the delays, the reinstated Commissioner immediately set out to revive the 2020 season, albeit a shortened version, after it had been canceled by the Players Association upon his aforementioned disappearance. This shortened season started in early May and had its 30 teams play only 126 out of their typical 162 games. The 2020 Maximum League Baseball season concluded after the Los Angeles Defectors won the World Series against the Tampa Bay Devils four games to two. The final match had started with an early lead by Tampa Bay but had ended with the Defectors taking the lead on a fielder's choice grounder by Defectors Shortstop Zane Dwyer. In the eighth inning, the Defectors added another run when Right Fielder Justin Hooks hit a home run off Devils Pitcher Beau White. Later on, Defectors Relief Pitcher Eric Calabrese pitched the last two innings of the final game, closing out the series by striking out Devils Shortstop Alex Leon looking. Now with the 2021 season underway, it saw a new face in its roster of GMs as the owner of the St. Louis Cardinals Nester Arevalo, made headlines by signing what became the first female GM in League History. Her name is Eloise Harper, a UK Native born and raised in Northampton and had played in and managed a Rounders team for four years before being signed on by the St. Louis Cardinals. During a press conference being held outside of Busch Stadium welcoming Ms. Harper into the league, the League Commissioner said in a statement, "All of us at Maximum League Baseball are thrilled for Ms. Harper and the opportunity she has earned with the Cardinals.” The League commissioner during the Speech "Eloise's appointment makes history in all professional sports and sets a significant example for the millions of women and girls who love baseball and softball. The hard work, leadership, and record of achievement throughout her career overseas led to this outcome of assuming leadership in the National Pastime,” before eliminating a reporter who continuously interrupted his speech to the press with his ‘Death Stare’ before finishing and letting Ms. Harper herself speak before the reporters. “As I stand here today, I am honored to take on the role of Cardinals GM. I remembered back after the game, The owner himself was there watching the game and he came up to me, told me about a vacancy as their General Manager after their other one had retired, and offered me the job. I was reluctant at first but my team back home across the pond encouraged me and, well… here we are. This has been a wonderful opportunity I have been given and I will bring my utmost effort to bring the Cardinals into a Winning Organization” After the speech as Ms. Harper gets settled into her opportunity in the St. Louis front office, she felt a feeling of confidence and apprehensiveness. She came all the way overseas for this offer to work her Management skills in Sports in a Professional setting. While she does not know what would her contract with the Cardinals would find her at, however, she does know that most of her career arc in Maximum League Baseball will be up to her in the years to come. |
