Quick Tournaments
Can a person that doesn't have a lot of time be successful in these quick tournies?
I see a lot of responses in some threads like export the data into excel, throw together some lookup tables and sift through the data and find the best performing players and just play them. So, back to my original question. Am I wasting my time on these tournaments? Are there better options in the vast amount of tournaments that are available where someone that enjoys baseball and collecting these cards has a reasonable shot of winning without my own analytical team? Trust me, I would love to stare at spreadsheets with stats all day long, just can't. So I'm not trying to stir up anything, I'm really not even complaining about the game. If the level of effort to be competitive is higher than what I can expend, I'll find other ways to enjoy the game. Just wanted to know if the quick tournaments are some place that I should spend my time. Thanks! |

one piece of advice...enter one of the daily tournaments were the fields are big, and win or lose, at the end of it, you can see who the majority of teams are playing, and put your team together.

I've been only doing the Iron 15 Bo5 and Ace 32's and won one Ace and finished second five or six times last week in the same kind of situation as you. Mon - Fri one round of tourneys, Sat-Sun as many as I can. Have very few non-live Irons since I'm ftp and the prices for the historicals are excessive and I can wait. My teams performances will improve with time.

I think the tournaments are rigged I am 0-13 in deciding game 5 and 7's too many to be random, seriously regretting spending money on this game I understand making $$$ but this and the results are unrealistic, been running iron bronze and silver since release, pitching's a joke

Depends on what your definition of success is. I have 3 teams, enter iron and bronze and do ok enough that I win some packs most days and have been able to build decent teams and complete missions. I haven't spent a lot of time, wouldn't even know how to sift through tables and data if someone held a gun to my head, and haven't spent a dime other than the original purchase and I have a blast.

As for the actual tournament results: If you're cashing at least once a day, you're ahead of the curve IMO. Had a weekend slump myself, but broke out of it Sunday night with some nice wins. I'd say I've made around 120+ packs since last Monday from playing iron. Find a spot where you are confident you can pull in at least one cash per day, and stay with it. |
