What's the Purpose of a Buy Order?

What's the purpose of a Buy Order in the Marketplace? If I want to quickbuy a card, I get the lowest sell order price. But if I want to quicksell a card, the only option is to take the quicksale price offered by the game, and not the highest buy order price. So what's the point to buy orders? What am I missing?

You pretty much explained it all to yourself in this post...Read it then think about it......The reason is a quicksale is not really caring what the market price is. So you just get quick points. But if you wanting more points than a quicksale offers you have to put it on the market.

You can sell at the highest buy order price instead of just quick selling. Just put in a sell order at the same price as the highest buy order and your card will immediately sell for that price.

Sure but it may not sell as quickly as you needing or wanting the PP. Many time the time you set it to be on market expires and goes back onto your roster. But the original poster was talking about a quick sale at market price. There is no such thing. You can quick sell for price that's preset. You can't just say I wanna sell X card for 2000 then press a button and it's sold. To sell can put any price you want for card, but someone has to be willing to pay that price. To buy you have to give want seller wants or don't buy it. You can't set your on QUICK SELL price then just hit a button and it sold, it HAS to be put on market or quick sell for a lot less

Your card don't and won't be sold immediately most of the time

A buy order lets you put in a bid for a card that may not be on sale at that moment.

If I'm looking for 69 Bronze Player, I can see that his L10 is 420pp. I'm willing to pay 459pp. So I create the buy order for him at 459 and wait for someone to sell him at that price.

In PT22, I'd have to check the AH over and over hoping someone posted him. In PT23, I just look once, set the price I'd be willing to pay, and wait. If I need to go adjust my order, I can.

Buy order is one of the best improvements in PT23.

That is incorrect. You can sell it immediately for any price at or below the highest existing Buy Order.

Yeah, that is true. But the spreads are so wide, it's pointless. The majority of buy orders are at less than half the L10 values.

Anyway, my point was, I guess, that if you can automatically buy at the lowest sell order, there should be a button to automatically sell at the highest buy order, and not just the pre-set game value.

The system is somewhat exploitable for the people that can really be bothered. The lack of a button makes the seller think about what they're doing and probably reduces the 'exploitation factor' slightly.

For people that don't want to search for cards 24/7, buy orders are fantastic!

In my opinion Buy and Sell Orders are the best improvement to come to PT since PT19 Launch Day. I am still getting used to it but I like it.

I really like Buy orders. I had a LOT of dupe live bronzes - like a ton. With 50 sell orders at a time, by the time I got to all of them the market value of a Live Bronze would've been significantly lower. I can take say 90 PP now in a click, whereas by the time I had "room" to put a sell order out, I may not get 90 anyhow.

Solution

"there should be a button to automatically sell at the highest buy order, and not just the pre-set game value."

There is - just click "Sell" from the manage cards window and then click the "submit sell order" button under the card image instead of clicking QS on the manage cards window or clicking "Sell" and then the Quick Sell button at the lower left of the sell screen.

I haven't checked in since yesterday morning, so I'm just gonna assume you've figured out by now you either misunderstood or just didn't bother reading what I said.

You literally can and do if there is a buy order in for 2000.
