TSTBL: Anyone Still Looking For A Real Challenge?
The TSTBL (an OOTP5 league) is in the final stages of their 6th season, with the World Series being held Wednesday. We have 19 of 20 owners committed to returning for next season, unfortunately the Nashville Sounds are in dire need of ownership. Never a powerhouse, the Sounds are desperate to find a way out of the funk that lead to 108 losses last season.
Despite the lousy record, the team is not without options. In the rotation, the team features veterans Trey Hodges (12-15, 2.61), who was 2nd in the EL in ERA this past season, and produced a nice, solid 1.12 WHIP, along with Randy Wolf (8-14, 3.53), who failed to reach double-digits in wins for the first time in his career. Wolf, sporting a 3.29 career ERA (among the all-time leaders), is locked in for another 3 years. Highly regarded youngsters Jason Arnold (11-16, 3.87) and Ben Hendrickson (3-10, 4.58) round out a very promising rotation. While the bullpen could use some help, 26-year-old closer Jeremy Lambert (2-9, 3.59, 32 saves) is poised for an All-Star season. Offensively, is where most of the team's problems lie. The team finished dead last in average (.235), homers (63) and runs (571). Catchers AJ Pierzynski (.303-6-63) and Kevin Cash (.313-1-25) are the only players to over .250 last season. Fortunately, the team is not without options. Nashville's farm system is solid and fairly deep, and is ranked 5th in the league. The team is also ranked 18th in salary. This will give new ownership to play in the free agent market, assume salaries and develop or trade prospects. Immediately following the World Series, the league will welcome two new franchises, Lake Elsinore and Iowa, and conduct an expansion draft. New management will also have a strong say in the organization's future by whom they protect in this draft, as well as next season's expansion draft. Following next season's expansion, the league will then move into a 6-division format with wild cards. The TSTBL has a great core group of owners who are very active, submitting rosters at an 89% clip last season. The owner's have made this league a lot of fun in that there is not an insane flurry of activity every year that renders rosters unrecognizable from season to season. Free agent movement is average, and there is already a strong tradition built by franchise players in most organizations. I (the commissioner) don't run a team in this league (if that matters), and experience is not required. If you are interested in a real challenge with this team, please drop me an e-mail ASAP so I can get you up to speed in terms of expansion and the start of the new season which is only a couple of days away. |

Anyone looking for a well run league would have a hard time finding one better than this. I've been an owner since the beginning and I don't believe we've ever missed a sim. So come on in we'd love to have you.
