Uniforms Hidden In Shadow

I don't know how to really describe this issue, other than with images. The first one shows the uniform in the preview. After updating all players with the uniform the players actually all look like they are standing in shadow (their jerseys, at least. Not their faces.) It's been like this since the pre-release Beta.

We're still working on finding a fix for this.

In the meantime, I'd recommend updating your video card drivers, as it's possible that might help (or it might not, but it's at least worth trying).

Could you possibly get us a trace file from when you're specifically having the game create a new image?

So go into a player without a pic, then have the game create one. Or a player that already has pics and hit the button to regenerate. And send us the resulting trace file immediately afterwards, even without shutting down the game. Thanks!

One other suggestion here. Can you try going to settings > troubleshooting and then hit the option to 'force reinstall game data'. (Or on Steam, right click OOTP in the Steam client and go to properties > local files > verify integrity of game files).

After that, try creating an entirely new league. Do you still see the shadowed facegen unis? And if you go back into the original league and regenerate the shadowed faces, are they still there or do they get fixed?

Cause of this has been discovered. It was using a custom jersey created when the _d.png files were still part of the structure. After deleting that file the strange shadowing went away.

It also happens with the included jerseys.

I haven't used any uniforms that came with the game, so I haven't personally experienced that. I'm using all custom uniforms.

I only had it happen to me once on a standard game start. It also affects the uniforms in the 3d game. So I deleted the save and started a new game and the problem did not appear.

Since beta, I have updated all the patches, tried to remove the _d files as suggested here, and still have the same dark shadow problem. I don't want to start a new game because this is an imported save (fictional game) that I've had for many years so it doesn't make sense to lose all the history. So I'm still trying to figure out how to fix this. At the moment I'll just have to live with it.

By the way, this seems to happen only for the new uniform format. If I use a mod in the old format, the pictures look correct (but then 3D models do not map perfectly).

I was having the same problem until I copied the _h and _n files to the jerseys folder and then reloaded the jersey in the game. This was with one created with the eriqjaffe editor.

I tested some more (copying files and reloading) and still have no luck. But I did notice something. Not sure if this can shed some light on the situation. Exactly what is the latest naming convention for the jersey files? Do we need _d? Just to simplify things, I am not using any normal maps.

I noticed the game is creating files like this:

jerseys_team_name_.png
jerseys_team_name__away.png

These seem to be the files that my game is taking. Notice that the home jersey file automatically puts "_" at the end, while the road jersey file uses 2 "_" before away...... Is this how it's supposed to work?

Sure, here is an example. Since this is an imported save, some of the uniforms are from previous games. Telemarket Rimini, Toei Flyers (from OOTP 22 and obviously using old format). I added world tournament in OOTP23 and modded the uniforms using new format. Take note of the files for Netherlands and US.

If those are not how it's supposed to work, what should the file names be? I wonder if I can manually rename the files and that would solve the issue?

The grey issue should be fixed now (as of 23.3.61 version), although the main cause (missing "_n" files) is not yet fixed. Will try to find the reason behind missing files.

So far it looks like it might be resolved. The uniform I was having my issues with looks ok now.

Ignore my post. lol I figured out how to make the _n file and now it works.
