Error when simulating

I am getting this error when i simulate:

The sim date is Aug 3, 2003 and I am using total minors. What could this be and how could I fix it? This is a online league file that we have been using so it is VERY important.

I never had this problem before with the game but here is my info:

windows 98
around 500mhz
i can say that my comuter has enough memory and should not be a problem, it meets the standards for the game and exceeds all. i am not sure what else to tell you. I recently re-formatted my computer as it was always frezzing so now its like new it has all the original features on it. all the files that i needed or programs are on the comuter and like i said this is the first season that i used the total minors. i had the all-star problem and needed to replace the schedule file which i did and it worked fine until now.

Run computer manager for all teams in league setup, also you may need to check all lineups as at times a player will be listed twice or a position will be listed twice.

Go to start then run and type dxdiag and hit enter. The direct X utility will open and it will let you know what version of direct X you are have installed. If it is less than v9 go to http://www.microsoft.com download and install v9, reboot your computer and then try the game again.

I rebooted and i no longer get the error. I installed v9.0 when i re-formatted the computer so that can't be the problem. The first error is the one that i get now. when i get the error it shuts the whole game down.

Hey Steve thanks for all your help. I did figure what the problem was and I will explain:

some of the files were read only. I had re-formatted my computer and saved them on CD and they happened to have changed them to read only so when it went to save the league it would not work. all i had to do was make sure that none where read only and now they work.

Oh yeah I have teams available and expansion teams if you'd like to join let me know
