pick off attempts

Anyone else noticing an abnormally high amount of successful pick-offs?

Small sample size since I am not far into my main save, but it seems oddly high.

Yes, I play out all my games and about 15 games into my season I've already seen a handful, way more than previous version.

Sorry, I'm just speaking from playing out all of my games.

It's totally anecdotal, but in about twenty hours of gameplay (an admittedly small sample size), I've seen more successful pick-off attempts in OOTP 23 than I can remember in any version dating back to 2009.

I’m also playing out every game and seeing a fairly high amount of successful pick off attempts

I've seen one in about 20+ games so far played out in the last couple weeks. I've tried many times with my lefty who has a great hold runners with no success. the lone pick off ive seen was against me with someone pretty slow on first that i wouldnt have run with anyway lol

I play out all my games too and this is the first time I have come to the forums since buying OOTP23. I am seeing a lot of pick off attempts be successful against my team. I saw two in one game. I have played about 100 games so far and seen about 25 I would guess, all against me.

Thanks, it does look like pickoffs were a little high. We can tone it down a little bit in a future update.

It actually should be a.s.a.p.

I'm not sure if it is happening during sims or just in games you play out.

Yes. This needs to be fixed for the next patch for those of us who like to play out the games or there's not much sense in playing.
This is the first time in six years I've been so adamant about something but pick offs occur far more than a 'little' too often.

In 13 games with Cincinnati, I've picked at least 25 runners off first base.
Granted, with the Reds I have plenty of opportunities to throw over because there are a lot of runners on first base in the course of EVERY game.
But this is far too much.

I know - this is anecdotal, small sample size, biased. Hell, I can't even give you a 'hard 'number.
But, sorry, I can't apologize for only playing out 13 games to date and not knowing what I needed to 'track' as I play.
All I know is - if I throw over 3 or 4 times, my rate of pick off success is far too high.

Conversely, stolen bases against attempts with poor runners are succeeding far too easily and often even when I've thrown over 3 or 4 times (and a few times even when I pitch out)......and my attempts to run using run and hit when ahead in the count 2-1 (with real base stealing threats) are failing miserably compared to prior years - 5 SB, 10 CS. And this is occuring against 40 hold pitchers and 50 arm catchers.
Good runners are getting gunned down halfway to second base.

Now the SB part is from too small a sample size, I would agree. But it's something to pay attention to or maybe something others are experiencing as well.

The fix will be in the next patch. I wanted to be a little cautious in my statement since I wasn't sure exactly which build we were intending to make public

Wow. Thanks for the quick response, Matt.

Does a fix like this work for an existing game or only for new games?
I mean, I'm searching for a good reason to abort my (4-9) Reds save and this just might be it. LOL

Sadly, the fix will work on games in progress, so no excuse to abandon

Well, we've improved to 9-10 after a 5-1 homestand....thanks to some timely hitting, a little steadier pitching...... and a whole lot of opposing runners picked off first base.
I don't know how we'll fare now that we'll be losing this weapon.
