Mergers and Acquisitions

Is there an easy way to combine 2 teams into one in OOTP?

Nope. For the majors first you need to lift any roster restriction on the team that's going to get all the players. Then you have to go through each player of the old team and assign them to the new team. However, if you're also merging minor league teams that could be easy, you just assign them to the new team and all those players will automatically be part of that system now. But if you're going to consolidate those minor league teams, then yes again, you need to transfer those players to the new minor league team

How do you assign a player to a new team without force trading?

In commissioner mode, it's just an edit like any other, there are pulldown menus to assign the player to a new team (or no team).

The place in the editor mode, if in Commish mode, that BBGiovanni refers to is on the left-hand side of the player's editor tab, halfway down, just below the walk-up music area.

In player editor I don't see team. How do I know I am in commish mode? I know I checked the box when forming the league.

Actually I see that I am in commish mode. Can't see changing player to another team?

I've done this a few times in OOTP. You have to do it player by player in Commish mode in the Editor. I combined every city &/or state that had 2 teams. CubbieSox. Yanets, Pirallies. Ok in most cases i kept the name of one or the other but I took 30 teams and reduced them to 16.
