How can I make my game run/sim faster?
I’m not quite sure if this is the right place to ask this, but how can I make my game run/sim faster? My first save file was super sluggish. Granted I had 4-6 leagues selected, but it would take hours just to get through one season. I tested a second save with just MLB selected, and there really wasn’t much difference. So what is there to do to make my saves run/sim faster?
Some of my PC specs include an i7 processor and 16 GB of RAM, and is running off an SSD. |

i don't save game scores anymore - i delete all messages after a month of sims - i never make baseball cards. it makes a small difference at first, but it adds up as the size of saves grows each season - once you start getting 20 or more seasons simmed - it does make a difference.

Some of the settings for things you are generating but maybe not needing (depends on how you play) are located on the upper right of this screen. mitchkenn, is correct - it's the cumulative effect that, as you get on in time, can slow it down.

These are good tips, but given your specs I would think your system should be able to handle things way, way faster than you are describing without having to resort to any of this. My work laptop has very similar specs and I can go through a full MLB season sim in like 1-2 minutes. Never mind my desktop, which is even faster.
It sounds to me like there's something else going on. I would recommend making sure that OOTP is whitelisted in any anti-virus or anti-malware programs and that you exclude the OOTP data folders from any of their regular scan settings, so those are not slowing things down when the game writes to disk. If you have multiple drives, you might also try moving OOTP (or at least the data folder) to a different drive and see if that makes any difference. There may be some issue on one drive but not another. Also, any programs that are running in the background but are not strictly needed, you might try disabling or shutting down, as it's possible one of these is somehow interfering with OOTP.
