school.xml File -- Adding schools

So I am playing an MLB save and am looking at the schools.xml file. I was interested in adding a couple of schools that do not have any baseball representation -- Iowa State, for example. I want to add schools, but I was wondering how I am supposed to do just that. Will it allow me to add schools? If so, how do I do it? Do I just add it as a new entity and add it as the last school (Making 20869 it's ID) or do I just put it in through an alphabetical order basis (replacing another school's id with that school and then moving all of the schools down an id, with the last school having an Id of 20869)?

It doesn't matter where you put it in the file, so long as it has a unique ID and follows the same pattern as the other files. You'll need to reimport the schools db in-game via the database tab after you've done this though for them to show up in-game

I did do that but now it resets most of the players' schools to the ID of 0 for some reason. I don't know what to do... help!

It's very possible that you've changed something else, try backing up or reinstalling. For me this happens because I often add various quizzes, like about Romeo and Juliet, by the way, I get inspiration from here https://freebooksummary.com/category/romeo-and-juliet-quizzes there are many sources where I get ideas for my projects, it's very convenient that I can listen or read books that are already summary, this saves me time. So, the idea was that with me it often happens that the game crashes so I save to backup to be able to restore the game.
