New 3D jersey and pants tutorial provided by Jorin from OOTP

I am attaching a zip containing a guide to creating new jerseys using the new templates. Could be useful for those who want to take a crack at it.

At the very least you can get an idea what the files are for.
Attached Files
File Type: zip jerseys_pants_modding_v3.zip (2.11 MB, 889 views)

Yes, wireframes! This is awesome. Thanks, Silvam

Question: Are there templates for caps and batting helmets as well?

I'll be getting OOTP 23 when it releases on Steam on the 22nd, but I'll admit my curiosity is peaked already.

You guys can thank Jorin. He put this together.

I'm just the messenger

Same caps as before. Nothing on helmets, though I was hoping to be able to have an option for those as well as be able to color the catchers equiment

To create normal maps you can use the software that the PDF file mentions in Silvam14's post. Thanks, Silvam14.
https://boundingboxsoftware.com/materialize/getkey.php

There are other free normal map programs aka bump maps. These may work as well.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/ssbumpgenerator/
http://cpetry.github.io/NormalMap-Online/
https://xnormal.net/

I have been making uniforms for NBA 2K games for years. Some modders created their own normal maps but others used generic normal maps. These generic maps can be used for any team. If you don't have the skills, time or patience to make individual normals for every jersey you can choose to use a generic. The file height_map.png can be used as the generic. The uniform will look better using the individual normal if you zoom in on the player. In NBA 2K the players are much larger than OOTP. When you play with the entire court or field displayed I don't think this extra step is necessary, you won't see this detail.

This ^ There are some default normal maps in the \data\jerseys directory that can be used by copying and renaming to whatever the Diffuse map filename is except with the _n at the end

Can someone please post a screenshot of what the old jerseys look like in 3D in OOTP23? I've got a zillion old fictional teams (thanks Txranger, Low, and everyone else) and I'm concerned with how they're going to look. I tend to play out my games in the default wide camera angle so I'm hoping the old jerseys will still look okay at that distance.

some look decent, some not so much, but they aren't really much different looking than in 22 in 3D

Thanks silvam14. I'm pretty sure I can live with it, given the long distance camera view I use.

Wait, wait... so we'll need new jersey templates now, too, specifically for 3D? Am I reading this correctly? Oh, that's a bummer.

I don't have FHM (or OOTP 22 for that matter), but those jersey templates remind me of the mods I've seen over in the FHM Mods forum.

I still use a "press box view" so I don't really notice any difference at all...but they look good in the portraits so I am happy.

Your stuff is too good to convert to the new templates.

Well they look the same to me in OOTP22 maybe I’ll do a comparison.

There's obviously a mapping issue with the old templates.

Clearly, in the first screenshot the star on the Astros jersey is duplicated and cutoff.

I've seen this on a lot of my own jerseys as well. This is a problem.

It’s been like that surge past 2 or three versions. Because the Old Jersey template doesn’t fit over the complete model. Nothing they can do there.

This just me, but I took the default pants and open the file in Paint Shop Pro. I copied the image as a new layer into a new file and cropped it to size. From there it was easy peasy to change the pants color to white, draw bi color vertical stripes and use the flood fill to color the belt. I merged the layers and saved it as a png, and the file works perfectly in the game. The whole process took maybe five minutes.
