23-please explain New Features

It would be nice if on Tuesday or Wednesday they give a more in depth explanation of the new features.
For example, I have no idea what “new ratings balances for historical players” means. Does anyone? I can kind of guess but I would probably be wrong.
Also more explanation on improving the core simulation engine and catcher framing.
Also do we need to restart a league for some of these feature to take effect??? If so, which features.

I am sure there are other features that gamers would like further details on.

That new ratings balances for historical players caught my eye as well. Would love to know what it means. Would love an explanation. Hoping it's more than just putting new and improved taste on the can.

On Tuesday the beta will be live. I am sure there will be plenty of content creators making videos to show you all the new stuff in great detail.

That's pretty much the same as just saying new and improved flavor on the can.

Well probably but instead of hunting them down it would be nice if a developer could make a post on the forum just giving more details on some of key features.
Some of the videos I have seen in the past just show it but don’t give any details or just show the aspect they are interest in. Helpful sometimes but a waste of time otherwise IMO.
Also, I will probably be working on my league before they ever post their videos.

For the first time since 2004 I won't be buying at release.

I can't think of a release with so little detail of what is in the new version. Some of the info has been posted outside of here and we only seen it because of it being linked by someone.
It feels as if the game is over a month away from release with the marketing of the game not days away. Maybe everything is behind because of the lockout?

If the new in game sim engine is what I hope it is then I will buy.
I understand that it might be difficult to show what that is but they need to explain what that is. Are stat results much more accurate? Are injuries improved? Is it easier to set up leagues to output stats how you want?

However, the small amount of changes that impact how I play feels like I could keep playing 22 and not really miss much playing my fictional league.

It's pretty bad when the thread with the most discussion is not about the new features but about the Cleveland Guardians name change.

Yeah, I plan on waiting til it's half price before jumping. Nothing revealed so far makes me want or need it before the all star break

All the more power to you, but since the price of OOTP is barely a half a tank of gas nowadays, it's a no brainer for me

Every other year i buy at release. Every other year i wait. To me 21 was buggy on my laptop so i couldnt get 22 fast enough. i have 22 modded to my liking. i will stick with 22 for a few more weeks. I really like the multi package feature and i am looking to 2 trade 2 gfreat players for prospects, so that will make me buy sooner then the all star break discount. I do like to wait til several patches have been released as well.

Agreed. I've been purchasing since OOTP4, but this year will do a "wait and see." Like others, OOTP22 still gives me a lot of enjoyment, so I won't rush in for the next version. I know I'll eventually buy it, but still in the dark on what other features are included?

To me, it's a head scratcher at the way this years version was rolled out?

I understand the anxiety about how the new game will be... that said, I always see buying OOTP and FHM as investments in the game's future. FHM maybe even more so as that game is still a few iterations away from something I can truly fall in love with.

Honestly, the rollout is a mess. So much hype, so little actual information. I just find it really annoying and hope they rethink how they roll out future versions.

Just like the start of the actual season.

I always preorder day one and always will to support development.

Have to say this year's version is not much of an upgrade over 22. Not a full versions worth anyway.

I would say that depends on what part of the game you prefer. From what they've announced (as ambiguous as it is) it could have a massive impact on Perfect Team players.

I would also add that this iteration is a bit like a prospect we haven't gotten a lot of detailed scouting information about yet.

From the teasers though I think this rookie has some promising tools and might just turn into a superstar. And yeah, might be a bust too. But I'm feeling optimistic.

(And I have never played PT, so that's not the source of my optimism.)

I buy to support the company and get the new database for imports, regardless of any new features, really. Updates, improvements, blah, blah, blah. It's baseball. Other than refining trade AI or adding "Baseball for Windows" style audio play-by-play, I feel there's little more they can do with the product as far as major new bells and whistles.

True, tho, the info has been pretty scant here on the official site; most previews of note have come from customers linking to other places.

Can't help but feel too much time is now spent on PT to the detriment of the original OOTP product. Wish they'd spin that crap off to its own product.

Oh, I hear that, and I certainly didn't mean that as an anti-PT statement. Just not something I have been interested in.
But even so, I think OOTP 23 will likely have a great deal of improvements for me as a fictional franchise mode OOTP'er.

Oh no I didn’t take it as anti PT at all! Just saying it’s a ton of fun.
