Issues with historical retirement dates and rosters

For a number of different players their retirement dates are way off. For example:

Jimmie Foxx. He played from 1925 to 1945. HoF 1951. On the his player page it shows his status as retired and his retirement date 2021. (He died in 1967)
Bill Terry. Played from 1923 to 1936. HoF 1953. Status retired. Retirement 2021. (He died in 1989.)

There are others. Also although I am using historical transactions, I get weird roster changes. Whitey Ford, a life long Yankee after 8 years ended up with the Cubs. Hal Newhouser a long time Detroit Tiger ended up on the Yankees.

Are these game glitches or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

I can't speak to the 2021 retirement dates, but in teh Ford & Newhouser examples, does their History panel indicate how they ended up with historically-incorrect teams? (Although you have historical txns on, do you also have Trading on? That might explain it.)

Thanks for the response. I have both boxes checked for: use real historical transactions and use real IL transactions. It says if you enable the use of real historical transactions trades are automatically disabled.

The league's transaction log shows that the Yankees signed Newhouser on 6/2/55 as a free agent. Realistically he pitched for Cleveland in 1954 and 1955 and retired after the 1955 season. He never pitched for the Yankees.

I know you can't answer but I just wonder how many other trades or transactions like this have occurred. I guess I'll have to check the league's transaction log more frequently.

Newhouser was released by the Indians in May 1955. Presumably, he became a free agent? I don't think the AI is supposed to freelance and sign free agents in strict historical leagues.

I agree, especially since he never played again after his May 1965 release.. Finding more. Satchel Paige pitching for the Yankees. Never did. Duke Snider playing for the Reds. Never did. Kind of defeats the purpose, and the fun, of historical leagues. Oh well.

For the record, I haven't seen this behavior with historical leagues using real lineups & transactions.

Do you have the retired as in real life option checked? It's the only reason I can see why this is happening, but on the other hand I don't understand why the teams would sign free agent with real transactions on (only time it happens to me is at the end of the 1871 season and it's because the first transaction log load the 01/01/1872).

for the 2021 it's because you didn't start your game from the beginning, the default date is 2021 for all the players who retired before the first day of your simulation.

Thanks for your reply. I do have retired as in real life checked. But sorry I don't understand what you are referring to about 2021. I started the historic game with 1946 season.
