It's 2022, we're on to ootp23... But the forums are stuck in 1995

Is there any plan to improve the forums a bit? Add reactions to posts, notifications on replies to your posts or new posts in threads you're in, maybe a nicer search feature, etc?

The upgrade from this to the next for vBulletin is absolutely terrible. I've seen this happen with baseball-fever and the board died soon thereafter.

Somewhere within the forums, there was notifications (thanks) but they were disabled due to bots.

Ootp forums will never die as long as the game lives. What I'm getting at is improving the user experience. Is it through vBulletin or something else? I don't know.

Notifications are massive. I come in, I see 3 notifications about people replying to me, and I can go directly to each message through the notifications.

And the reactions to posts also helps people connect easier. Sometimes you just wanna applaud a post without posting an empty "I agree" that only clutters the thread. Same when someone said something "funny" or "interesting" or "helpful." And sometimes you just want to slap a "disagree" on a post without engaging.

We used to have reactions, but apparently within vBulletin they cause some kind of security risk. So, unless vBulletin fixes that, they are going to remain off.

You can Subscribe to threads...that is how I keep track of everything and it seems to work well.

Board has gotten worse over the years, used to be a much more fun place

They do the job but everyone has moved onto other things like Discord, Twitch and who knows where else. The sense of community is gone because we have so many things to check and keep up with. This board is legendary and historic.... it would be sad to see it go.

I have been playing since early 2000's and even tonight have searched the boards the find old stuff I posted here to help me with my current project... and reminisce... and touch base with past friends.
