Entry Draft issue: Game crashes or all 7th round picks to Montreal

Hi!

In my save I have recently come across a bug: In the current NHL Entry Draft (year 2026) once I get to the last picks of the 6th round the game either a) crashes (at least when I press "sim until user pick") or b) it does not crash, but all remaining draft picks belong to the Montreal Canadiens.

Could it have to do with the fact that I have expanded the league to 36 teams? Or maybe that the expansion draft is on the same day as the entry draft? Could recuding the draft rounds to 6 make sure this bug does not occur next season.

I have uploaded the save as "EuropeanExpansion.lg.rar". In the current save I am on 6th of July, right after the Entry Draft (with Montreal having recieved tons of picks and now having a pretty big depth chart

). One of the "backup saves" (rs_one or rs_two, whichever is the newer one) starts right before the Entry Draft, where it at times crashes and at times Montreal gets all the remaining picks.

Aha! So that's how they won all those Cups...

Not sure what's going on there, but I was able to replicate it (with both outcomes) from rs_two; seems to always happen when it hits Seattle's pick. The expansion draft completes normally, so I don't think that's the problem, it's likely some kind of corruption with the draft pick data. We'll have to take a closer look at this one, but it's likely something that can be fixed in the save.

Thanks for the reply! However, in the next season I am now facing a similar issue. This times, it always crashes after pick 196 in the 6th round (and now it always crashes... Montreal is nomore getting anything for free

). What is weird is that in the "draft order" screen that pick seems to be the last one, even though there should be 7 rounds in the draft (the NHL has 36 teams in the save, so there should be 252 picks).

I absolutely enjoy this current save of mine, so I would highly appreciate if you could maybe look into it and hopefully fix it for me

I have uploaded it as "EuropeanExpansion2.lg.rar.". It start on 5th of July right before the Draft Lottery.

We were able to fix the original version of the save - the draft order was badly broken and had to be reconstructed, so continuing it without the fix is going to result in problems in every draft thereafter. Send me your email address via PM or at jeff@ootpdevelopments.com and I'll share the fixed version of the save with you on dropbox.
