CHL (Canada) Trading

It is far to easy to trade overage players. If you are trying to make a deal and just include an overage player the team will accept the trade no matter what.

In FHM7 there was also the situation where you could trade all your impending overage players on 30th June to teams with a bunch of impending overage players of their own. They would give up full trade value in picks and prospects for your players, then on 1st July they would have to release these excess players, and you could just re-sign your players back as free agents. I don't know if that got fixed in FHM8 or not?

I believe that is fixed by giving negative value to overagers in trades, which has led to the above mentioned problem.

That 'negative value' issue was also in FHM7. When you reached 1st July your 5-star ability overager suddenly becomes 'no basis for negotiations' when trying to trade him with any other team. Overage players should still have some positive value in their final season up to the trade deadline.

Which reminds me, in WHL you could also 'shop' overage players at seasons end and teams would give you a pick for them, even though they cannot play another game at that point.

Yeah for some reason the 'shop a player' and trade functions seem to use two different 'systems' within the game.. Shop a player trades and initiated trades seem to yield very different responses

Very different indeed. Shop-a-Player generates less return value. It's designed to function as if the GM is saying: "I need to move this guy right now." (Due to cap crunch or what have you). So it gets 'cheaper' offers.

But when youre in a cap crunch you can go to initiate a trade and get more return immediately
