The system is broken. I'm sure it's fine if you play vs AI and you can outbid all CPU teams and fill your entire system with elite coaches. In online play, it's very challenging to put together a respectable minor league coaching system. Currently, only "unproven" coaches will even consider minor league coaching positions. There are a ton of inexperienced, poor and fair reputation coaches who simply are not good enough to be working at the MLB level. Yet, they won't even consider a high paying job in the upper levels of the minor leagues and instead remain unemployed. My online league is overrun with inexperienced to good coaches who await only MLB coaching positions, but that will never happen. They're not good enough to coach in the majors.
We have a few GM's who are paying newly introduced unproven coaches who are generated after the conclusion of the playoffs and have stellar ratings $3m-$4m per season to coach in their minors. These GM's gain a huge and unfair advantage over the rest of us when it comes to minor league player development. The rest of us are stuck with coaches with average or fair ratings throughout our minor leagues. Coaches who should be accepting minor league positions straight out refuse to even consider these positions. Can the devs please tweak how free agent coaches look at minor league job opportunities, and maybe these coaches could be even more enticed by minor league positions if they are offered high salaries? This change would be really balance things out in online leagues. Also, minor league coaches typically refuse to be promoted within an organization, even if it means coaching at a higher level for more pay. Just my two cents. |

I should say that most free agent coaches have to be unproven to consider a minor league position. A few coaches with some experience are open to working in the minors. There are definitely not enough quality coaches willing to take a position in the minor leagues.

I don't have the same experience with minor league coaching in online play. The system seems to work fine, in my opinion. The difficulties you're citing are exaggerated.
The coach "poaching" feature has been a great addition and works great to balance the coaching system in online leagues. I also wouldn't worry too much if your competitors are paying $3-4m for a coach in the minor leagues. It doesn't help them as much as you might think, and all that money could have otherwise been spent on player salary. |

You also may be experiencing more coaches refusing to sign with you if you have recently fired coaches. Word gets around, and other coaches won't like your reputation for firing people.

My team in one of my online leagues has been #1 in my division the past 2 years. There are a few better scouts that I would LOVE to hire but they keep saying "We dont want to work for you" A team that has won over 100 games last year and on pace to do that again this year and I can't even hire good coaches lol. I do agree there is something a bit broken.
