Building my postseason bullpen
My 2037 St. Louis River Walkers are about to start the postseason.
We've had some major issues with our bullpen over the final two months. Some big injuries along with reliable vets who have suddenly not been able to count on. Since we're going to reduce to a four-man rotation, can the odd-man out be put into the bullpen and be expected to pitch with any effectiveness. Or if I use him once, he'll be done for 3-4 days. So realistically, he's only good for two games -- if that -- in a series. I also have some guys in AAA, who have fared well on callups during the season. If I plug in the best of the bunch, could he cover some outs for me? Just tired and racking my brain how to set up my roster and see what the other GM/Managers out there might think. I don't think that is cheating. Last edited by rink23; 03-12-2022 at 06:04 AM. |

what I do is change his position from starter to reliever under the action tab on his player screen.
Just need to remember to change it back when he goes back in the rotation. |

I do it all the time for the play-offs, like you see irl.
Change my setting to 4 man rotation and stick one SP in the pen. Don't need to change his position. I like to set my guy as emergency starter/ long relief. But he can be used any way you like. Last edited by Bluenoser; 03-12-2022 at 10:09 AM. |

if their stuff isn't elite, i'd only use them for long relief or L/R matchup / non-leverage.
There are exceptions... if you have used them as reliever before and they excelled in more than spot-duty, i'd ignore the general requirments i have of a high-end RP. i'll even use them in an setup role, of needed in that context. in general, my 5th SP is relegated to Emergency SP caue i don't want them messing with my top 4 relievers roles. i even turn the less essentiap bullpen members down to very little use etc... i don't use 'avoid high leverage' because they tend to get into more games which is the opposite of what i want for the bottom 3 or 4 RP in playoffs unless i'm getting blown out. lots of possibilities with contexts taht would make me change things up.. nothing is set in stone. |
