Teams changing roster for tournament?

I have postseason tournaments in my world (Champions League and Global Cup) and often teams will play with a new starter in lineup, different rotation, etc for this tournament even though it's just days after the season and their player pool is the same. what causes the AI to change so suddenly?

Have the leagues themselves gone into the off-season?

I imagine the Player Evaluation AI Settings shift as soon as that occurs.

The AI could be reacting to different rules for the tournament (DH, roster size, rotation for round robin vs. regular season, etc)? Assuming they are facing new teams, then they may do something different based on their opponents too I think.

Not that, it’s often a brand new prospect type player

These settings are

Ratings Weight
Current Year Stats Weight
Previous Year Stats Weight
2 Years Ago Stats Weight

As soon as your season concludes and the AI moves on to the off-season this is going to slide forward. Current Year becomes Previous Year, Previous Year becomes 2 Years Ago and 2 Years Ago becomes forgotten.

It's a small shift overall unless you have a lot of weight on 2 Years ago, but I imagine it is enough to cause a few changes.
