Markus: What is OOTP's Future With Korean Ownership?

Correct me if I am not up-to-date on information after the sale to the Korean Company... here is my limited knowledge.

Markus has control of OOTP for 3 years after the sale... guess that would be the years 2021, 2022 and 2023.

What will happen then?

Will OOTP still exist?
Does the Korean Company have any interest in OOTP's continued development and success?.
Or do they only care about Perfect Team, which I guess is the money maker?

Have their designers helped with improving the animation of OOTP?... or is Perfect Team and OOTP completely separated?... the new company runs Perfect Team and Markus runs OOTP.

When the final and last version of OOTP is released in 2023, will I be able to play it for 10 years?.

I realize Markus may be limited in what information he can share about the sale agreement... future sales could be affected.

But it sure would be nice to get some information from the OOTP Development Team about the future.

At least, tell us what you can contractually.

I think OOTP turns into a pumpkin after three years and we're all stuck playing a new game called Halloween Simulator.

In the late 90s Mercedes and Chrysler merged in what was called a "merger of equals". The resulting corporation was named Daimler-Chrysler.

In a short time the Chrysler people left. The Mercedes people canned Plymouth, turned Dodge into a station wagon brand, and many models became reskinned Mitsubishis. A few years later the Chrysler unit was losing money and Mercedes gave it to Cerberus.

After it was over a Mercedes exec was asked about the pronunciation of the former company, Daimler-Chrysler. To American eyes it looked like Dame Lur Cry Slur. But the ads pronounced it Dime Lur Cry Slur.

"It was Dime Lur" the Mercedes exec said. "Cry Slur was silent."

Thanks for the comments... looks like this is the way of the business world.

The future for our beloved OOTP may be bleak.

I'm not sure there is any sense in worrying about this kind of thing until they give us a reason to.

For instance, the announcement of OOTP22 came on February 22nd last year. If we get into March without hearing anything maybe then begin to worry. They announced a "Final Patch" for OOTP22, so I think that is a good sign a new version is coming soon.

Long-term, as long as Markus and/or Matt are around I feel pretty good. If either of them leave I'd be somewhat worried and if they both leave I think things would become bleak.

I don't think we are going to get direct answers about these kind of things though and if OOTP ever does end I could play the most recent version for quite a while.

If there isn’t drama, someone will find some.

Good observations... you made a lot of sense to me.

As long as we have Markus, Matt, Lukas and the team, we should be OK.

It's not a matter of them adding another year of stats and continuing to sell the game. It's a matter of whether any problems will be fixed.

For me, the game seems to be pretty mature as is. I know some will disagree but that is ok. Yes they need to continue to refine the game and sometimes add a new/better feature like online game play, etc.. Perfect Team might drive the changes. Anyway, we will see in 2 or 3 years.

Relax, nothing is going to change in the forseeable future. We're still the same team, we have been hiring talented people and we have great support from our Korean friends.

"Markus has control of OOTP for 3 years after the sale."

This is incorrect. I have control as long as I am Managing Director of the company. And I do not plan on stepping down anytime soon

So I'll close this thread now, as it serves no real purpuse.
