Questions about adding/deleting teams and leagues

Hi all, long time no see. Haven't played OOTP in awhile. Had a few questions about the current version and how it handles a long-term fictional universe where teams, nicknames and whole leagues come and go over time.

One of my concepts was to start a fictional world based in North Carolina and run it from 1900-present. I would want to base the early decades on the real history of baseball in the state (using cities and nicknames from the minor league teams that called NC home). But it was really disjointed for several decades.

Is it possible to work that into the game?

For example, the Raleigh franchise played as the Senators in 1900 as one of six teams in the North Carolina Association. That league folded after one year and Raleigh joined the Virginia-North Carolina League in 1901. That folded, and Raleigh re-emerged in 1908 as the Redbirds, playing in the Eastern Carolina League. That league lasted three years before folding. Raleigh's next venture came in 1913 as the Capitals in the N.C. State League. On and on.

Anyways, can you navigate that in this game and keep an accurate history? Do I actually fold a whole franchise and start a new one, or just put it on "pause" for the years where it didn't field a team?

If I followed the script of actual history there would be a few years early on where no teams actually played (1906-07 and the WWI years for example). Eventually I would settle everything down and have a stable league but I think it would be neat to mimic the coming and going of the fledgling sport for awhile...

Also, can I populate my league with say 85 percent of the players being from North Carolina, another 10 percent from surrounding states and then the last 5 percent from the rest of the world?

Thanks!

Not with those percentages because the player intakes for drafts doesn't allow you to pick by state/city but you can set the league to be part of a region and it'll only generate players from the southeast/mid-atlantic or whatever US subregion you pick. It'll get trickier importing non-local players, but you can probably use international free agents or established international players feature to bring in non-locals?

Not in a custom league, no. The most inelegant way to do it would be to create a dead league where these teams could be moved and then you could bring them back when you're ready for them, the dead league wouldn't have a schedule and you could clear it so it doesn't play any games. Barring that, you can just transfer the franchises akin to real life irrespective of the history, if the teams aren't going to be around that long, it's probably not worth the hassle anyway. (Like how OOTP has the Yankees connected to the original Baltimore Orioles even though they're not considered the same franchise in the record books.)
