European transfers
I started a game in France, which is a very interesting challenge that I'm enjoying. But I've run into a thing where other general managers won't take "yes" for an answer. "We want $80,000 for this player." I type in $80,000, click submit, and nothing at all happens. The next day, I check in and he wants $80,500, or $79,500, or something else right in that neighborhood. But whatever I do, including offering more than he's asking for, nothing happens.
Is this the FHM equivalent of the OOTP thing when you run into a GM who just jerks you around, submitting lists of sweeteners that he says will make a deal and then saying "Ah, no I need a little more?" If that's what it is, that's cool. (Those AI GMs in OOTP probably think I'm an asshole when I shop a prospect just to see if the rest of the league likes him as much as my scouts do.) But it's more transparent in OOTP, so I wonder if I'm missing something. |

After you make the offer, sim a few more days ahead. Does it then get accepted?

It hasn't yet. And the ones I've been working on might get blocked now because I'm up against the "foreign" player limit. I had cleared a spot to buy a defenseman, but because I wasn't sure if either of these deals (both with the same club) would go through, I found a free agent and signed him instead.
If it's supposed to work this way and I'm not missing a step, that's good. I'm just used to OOTP telling you exactly what's going on (expect a response in a few days, yada yada), so I wasn't sure. I found the AI GM's real-life LinkedIn profile, but he probably wouldn't see the humor in me trying to move the negotiation to that realm. |

I'm getting the offer accepted the next day when I make a transfer offer from a French team. Are you selecting "Offer Trade" from the action menu after confirming the amount? It sounds like you may not actually be making the offer.

No, I think that was my mistake, Jeff. I thought the "confirm" button made the offer. That save game seems to be borked, anyway. (See bugs thread.) I've returned to my first love in hockey management sims, Canadian juniors.
