OK, I'm about at my wits end w/ this game. I'm a recent buyer of this game and I'm having trouble getting things going. here's my situation:
I am looking to create a league (16 total teams) using the best players from the '70s to 2002. I have spent hours researching, finding players and getting their "career year". When I go into Custom league, I get all the way through setting up my league structure. Then I try to find a way to upload the players using the Lahman database except I can find no way in which to do it. When I click on the "Edit Free Agents" button, nothing happens. When I go to the Free Agent screen, there is no Import option. I'm stuck. I'm also confused. According to some of the forums, we can import real individual players for our leagues (besides importing whole years), but I've found some that said we can't use Lahman's (BTW: when you scroll over the Players button in setting up a Custom league the description at the bottom said you can use Lahman's, so if that's not the case, that should be changed). Bottomline, after I set up my league structure and generate my league, I have no idea what to do next and there really isn't any flow to let the user know what to do. I'm also getting an "Invalid Players" error message everyonce in a while when I open up my league... So any help from you all would be greatly appreciated. I apologize if this is duplicating another thread but I've looked through pages of threads and have not found anything to really help me. I've found several that talk about importing but it's hard to import if you can't find the import button. This seems to be a great online community so I'm sure someone will be able to provide some assistance. thanks again. |

You have to create an "empty" league(league creation area), then in the FA pool import the players from the database one by one. One more thing, the reason why you aren't getting some of the options to work is because you are in "manager mode", DON'T start the league in that mode and you will have NO problems getting it to work.

Now we're getting somewhere...
OK, not starting in Manager mode will probably do the trick since I usually start in Manager mode. At what point can I add the managerial option to my season?
Just for the record, I started w/ an Empty league but when I finally made it to the FA screen, there was no Import option that I could see. No button, link...nothing. Also, when I first started messing around w/ the program, I deleted the leagues I created at one point, including the "Career2003.lg" folder. I now understand I shouldn't have done that. Since then, I've uninstalled and re-installed everything and haven't touched that folder. Because of the re-install, things should be working properly now right? I wouldn't think my current problems would have anything w/ me deleting that folder a while ago. I'll not start in mgr mode and see what happens...thanks a lot. |
