Generating league schedules
Our league just went to a 4 division 4 team alignment in both the AL and NL (32 teams total; 16 in each league). We do not want to schedule interleague play. I can not get the schedule to work properly. We want three game series twice a week with off days on Mondays or Thursdays..........no off days on FRI/SAT/SUN. I have tried everything and can not get this to work. Please advise on how to generate this schedule in the OOTP5 game. How can I do it ? Please don't tell me I would have to do a lot of editing to accomplish this. Also, we want the all star game scheduled with a day off before and after the all star game.....so Mon thru Thursday would have to be off days with the all star game being played on Tue or Wed!
Help please!

Have you tried the "stickware scheduler"? Not sure if it would work with the setup you have or not, but does a pretty good job that I have seen.

The Stickware schedule utility doesn't work with 4 divisions in a league though, since it was originally written for OOTP4 (which only allowed 3 divisions in a league). It does work in OOTP5 for leagues with 3 divisions or fewer though.
So you're out of luck I'm afraid, unless you want to create your own schedule. However, that may not be all bad, as I might be able to help a bit in this. The current PCL has a 4 division arrangement, and I have its schedule for 2003. Now, they only play 144 games, but you could use this schedule as a base and then add in some more games if you want a longer schedule. The PCL schedule has teams playing 16 games against each divisional opponent (total of 48 games) and 8 games against each of the teams in the other divisions (total of 96 games). So, if you changed it so that you had 18 games against each divisional opponent (total of 54 games) and 9 games against each of the teams in the other divisions (total of 108 games) you end up with a 162 games overall. Of course, splitting 9 games into home and away evenly is a bit difficult, so I'd suggest following the method MLB has used recently: play six teams with 6 at home and 3 away and the other six teams with 3 at home and 6 away. Of course, splitting things as 5-4 and 4-5 might be a bit easier to adapt to the existing PCL schedule. It's up to you what works best. Anyway, if you're interested I can pass along the 2003 PCL schedule to you and you can go from there. |
