Buffalo Sabres | Rebuild to Success?!
The Story:
2012/2013... The last time the Buffalo Sabres managed to make it to the playoffs. Fans are angry, the brand is broke and management continues to make any changes in the success. "The Rebuild" continues, but newly hired GM/Coach Baker isn't going to sugar coat anything. The Team isn't where it needs to be. The players that have been here for the last 9 years are tired and have no motivation to push. His decision.... Moving on and moving pieces. The Moving Pieces: [#1] [#2] [#3] Future Pieces: |

The Sabres Continued to shake things up, as GM Baker has gone out to sign his prospects in defensemen Owen Power & Jake Sanderson. Also prospects RW. Prokhor Poltapov & LW Alexander Kisakov.
After many of the trades the team was a bit under the salary cap, so to fill those voids, Baker signed Veteran Goalie, Devan Dubnyk to a 1YR - $4,150,000 contract and Veteran Centre, Eric Staal to a 1YR - $2,000,000 contract. Another Big Trade: |

As expected the Buffalo Sabres continue to struggle on the ice. Currently holding a 8-12-4 Record, which places them 7th in their division and 15th in their conference only above Detroit. The Sabres have acquired two players off waivers so far down the road as they looked to increase scoring with the additions of 24 year old, Zach Senyshyn and 27 year old, Andreas Athanasiou. Both being natural goal scorers, Buffalos hoping they can be the difference in a few games. Buffalo Player Stats Additions of Vincent Trocheck and youngster Peyton Krebs have been huge successes so far as they lead the team in goals (Trocheck, 14) and Assists (Krebs, 15) as Trocheck has 20 points in 24 games with the Buffalo Sabres. Krebs just behind him with 17 points. |

Trade Deadline News:
50 Games into the season and the Buffalo Sabres made a push climbing 4 positions in their Division with a 23-21-6 Record. Currently sitting 11th in their Conference and 6 Points out from of a Playoff spot currently. The Team made "Significant changed" in which GM Baker felt were needed whether or not they make the playoffs. |

The Buffalo Sabres have broke the 10 Year Drought and came together with the moves made at the deadline and playing some great hockey! The team that once was 8-12-4, turned things around after the trade deadline and ended up having a solid record of 46-28-8 for 100pts. This ended up being good for 2nd in the division and 4th in the conference. The New Sabres Come in Clutch: Jared McCann Played 27/28 games he had with the Sabres and collected 10 Goals and 15 helpers for 25 points! Filip Forsberg only played 16/28 games as injuries were an issue, but he managed to produce also when playing as he had 7 goals and 6 assists for 13 points when healthy! Nico Sturm in all 28 games with the Sabres he collected 7 goals and 10 assists for 17 points. He was 57.2% at the faceoff dot also. Jake Oettinger Jake came in splitting the role with Anderson for the rest of the season, as Dubnyk was claimed of waivers. In the 14 games, Oettinger went 11-1-2 with a 2.14 GAA, a .928% Save Percentage and collected 2 Shutouts down the stretch. Originally Starting Sabres Top Helpers: Craig Anderson Anderson was the original starter for the struggling squad and it showed in his stats as he wasn't getting much help in front of him, along with struggling. He came back around with the addition of Jake Oettinger. Anderson played in 57 games this season and had a record of 31-23-3 with a 2.74 GAA, .919% Save Percentage and 4 Shutouts on the season. Victor Olofsson in 82 games this season, Olofsson had his best season so far in the NHL and in 4 seasons with Buffalo. He collected 25 Goals, 38 Assists and 63 Points on the season. Peyton Krebs His first National Hockey League and it looked like he was a natural this season. Krebs shined for the Buffalo Sabres, when the teams struggled so long. He managed to get 9 Goals and 42 Assists for 51 points in his first season. Vincent Trocheck Another player to break his career totals in the NHL, Vincent Trocheck joined the team before the season started and was one of the stars who had potential with the struggling squad. He managed to put up 39 goals, 23 assists for 62 points in 76 games. Last edited by TBiz; 12-06-2021 at 08:14 PM. |

**Game Seven - Make or Break for both Buffalo and Toronto:**
Both teams have a lot of pressure heading into the 7th and final game of the series that Buffalo at one point was up 2-0. Toronto's looking at another game seven chance they could fumble and you know Management will be on blow for this one. Buffalo, has proven themselves by breaking a drought. The teams exit in the first wouldn't be a terrible situation as they've already overcome the big issue. But coming this close to getting into the second round, would be a bit upsetting. Rumours of 40 year old goaltender for the Buffalo Sabres is said to be thinking about retiring after this season. Craig Anderson who has played 57 Games this season with a 31-23-3 record with a 2.74 GAA and a .919% Save Percentage. Anderson has 19 seasons in the NHL with 709 Games played, 322 wins, 275 Loses and 72 T/OTL's. He has a respectable 2.77 GAA and a .906% Save Percentage, playing for; Chicago, Florida, Colorado, Ottawa, Washington and the Buffalo Sabres. with his 4 shutouts this season, that brings his total to 46 in his regular season career. |

Boston vs. Buffalo - Round Two Blood! Boston's been a pretty big pain in Buffalos Regular season, as Buffalos record this past season vs. them was 1-3. Bruins already had the edge in the series by predictors with their consistency of making the playoffs, but with the season record being as it is, that just adds the cherry on the cake. Boston faced the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round, taking them out in Six games to get here. They've had a bit more time to rest up and prepare for the Buffalo Sabres also, so should give them the edge for atleast the first game. Buffalo obviously had a battle with the favored Leafs and should be pretty beat up going into the second round. |
