Game won't start

I installed OOTP 22 for the first time (PC, Steam). Opened OOTP, went to Settings>Expert and changed the custom data path (I like to keep my files on Dropbox). Restarted OOTP.

When I tried creating a New Standard Game I got an error ...
ERROR: Unable to load world template file (invalid file format). Please re-install OOTP.

So I re-installed OOTP and opened it up again but got a Fatal Application Exit. Tried re-installing again. Same thing. OOTP won't open

Any ideas how to fix this?

When you change the data path, you also need to copy over the files from your old data directory to the new one (there's a prompt during the process of changing the path that mentions this). It sounds like you may've skipped that step. No worries though, if you just do that now, the restart the game, it should fix things.

yeah I forgot to mention I did that. There weren't many files to transfer. Here's the steps I took ...

1. First time install
2. Open OOTP and changed custom data path in Settings>Expert
3. Shut down OOTP
4. Transferred files
5. Open OOTP
6. Create New Standard Game
7. ERROR: Unable to load world template file (invalid file format). Please re-install OOTP
8. Uninstall OOTP
9. Reinstall OOTP
10. Open OOTP
11. Fatal Application Exit error
12. OOTP won't open

I would think that most likely when you're moving the files, they're getting pasted in the wrong spot (maybe a level too far down or something) but hard to say for certain based on what you've posted so far.

I'd recommend you submit a support ticket (https://support.ootpdevelopments.com/portal/en/home or email support@ootpdevelopments.com) so the support guys can work with you directly on getting things sorted out.

ok will do. thanks

fyi, I did figure out how to get the game to fire up. I had to delete this folder: C:\Users\<yourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 22

Game started up fresh like it had never been started before but I still can't change the Custom Data Path in Settings>Expert. Or, I should say, changing the Custom Data Path leads to serious errors.
