Editing storylines

Is there an easy way to delete the storyline which asks you to set up a charity, and if you do, your market size decreases?

Read here for more details:

In your OOTP 22 folder, go to the Storylines folder then to the default subfolder and open the storylines_english file. Search for the text id="712" Depending on what program you use to open XML files (I use Notepad ++), you should find something that looks like this:

Name: charity 1.jpg
Views: 493
Size: 52.1 KB

Starting with the <STORYLINE, select all of the text until you reach the end where it says </STORYLINE>. It should look something like this:

Name: charity 2.jpg
Views: 538
Size: 38.3 KB

Delete the selected text and save your modified file. You may also want to make a copy of your modified storylines file and save it in a different folder so that it doesn't get overwritten by an update.

If you want your change to apply to leagues that you have already created, you will need to re-import the storyline database. Go to Game Settings in OOTP. Select the Database tab and click the Database Tools button. In the dropdown menu, choose "Re-import storylines database from XML file."

Here is what I see...not sure where it says "storyline" but I am getting old and going blind lol. Can you make any sense of this?

If not...could you post or send me a modified file?

Ok...which "storyline"? where it just says <storyline> or <storyline id=

Also where it says frequency it has a number of 5000. What would happen if I set it to zero? Would that eliminate the issue, or no?

Thanks so much for your help.

Think of it like the covers of a book. The front cover is <STORYLINE and the back cover is /STORYLINE> The first tells the computer where to start reading and the latter tells it where to end.

So delete everything, starting with the front cover and going all the way to the back cover.

I don't know how to make it any simpler. Anyone else want to take a shot at this?

That might work. I've never tried that, but I suppose that would be worth a shot.

Should I delete <storyline & /storyline> or just everything in between?

Seconded.

Another option (if you want to disable but might wish to re-enable at later date): is to cast same code within comments tags:
Code:
<!--
...
Code:
-->
Code:
<!--
goes before <STORYLINE>
Code:
-->
follows </STORYLINE>

This results in disabling that code. Removing those tags re-enables the code.

Ok...I got it out...I am still curious if setting the random frequency value to "0" would work equally as well (notice the minor league value=0)

Maybe a developer can let us know if possible.

The market size decreases if you say yes in that storyline? What's the logic there?

There was no ability for storylines to remove cash from a team, so that was the closest analogue to spending money among the possible results in the system.
