Unassisted DP by pitcher?

I'm running the team at bat. Runner on first, nobody out. I put on the hit & run. Batter hits a line drive that---according to the PbP---is snagged by the pitcher, who then steps on first to catch the runner off base and complete the double play.

This sort of thing has happened to me a few times over the years, so I can't imagine someone else hasn't reported it already. But it did happen in OOTP4, and now it's popping up again in OOTP5. (Not always the pitcher; once it was the third baseman who grabbed a line drive on a hit & run and made it to second in time to double off a runner there!)

I checked the game log this time and discovered the play was actually recorded as a U3 double play---so, despite what the PbP told me, it was actually the first baseman who did the deed. I guess this means the problem is in the PbP coding, which isn't a gamebreaking kind of problem. But it would be nice to see the right player get credit for the DP during the play of the game.

It seems like pbp tweaks have been on the backburner for awhile, but I know this has been mentioned in the past and the developers are aware of the error.

Yeah, I sort of figured that was the case. Thanks for the reply.

I wouldn't be surprised to see an overhaul of the PBP system for the next version since it seems to be a hot topic lately.

sporr, I hope you are right.

The play-by-play needs to be worked on for those of us who play out a lot of our games.

More variety in text and inclusion of basic plays that are missing or happen with too little frequency would be nice additions.

Marcus: Why are basic plays not added to the game?

Why is more variety in play-by-play text not added?
