FHM8 - League Support

I'm very interested in this game and have been playing OOTP. From the forums it seems like FHM vs other people is a send your files to the commish and he imports them? Is this correct?

If so, any news that perhaps in FHM8 you can play a league online within the game and not have to do this file send/import thing?

Yeah this was the big reason why i have left multiple leagues. I had a lot of fun but it was a pain to download a file, put it in the game, make your changes and then send your file (which is easier now than it was in the beginning but still). I wish there were servers to host leagues but i guess it's too expensive for the team?

Yeah OOTP does not seem to understand how to do online league. There are better way to do this....

The game should create a database for every online league where you can access from the game and when you made a change, it change in the database for the Commish who's the only one who can advance the league.

Lots of work to do to make online league interesting/ easy and casual

I played in online leagues 20 YEARS AGO with 24 managers. They charged $10 a person a league (that's $240) and a league would last 2 to 3 months (2 games simmed a day). I would often be in 5 or 6 different leagues at a time. One manager would be the commish and would set the rules as the league originator. Unless it was a open/standard league. Cup winners won free leagues

The actual sim was primitive compared to FHM, but that's irrelevant. The game can be as powerful as you want if hosted from one site. It seems OOTP is really missing an opportunity.

I agree with you on the missed opportunity - especially since pretty much the only other licensed NHL game is the EA SPORTS one, and they do not have an online league function. Having an online league structure could help boost some sales, but probably not enough to warrant the work to set it up.

That being said, we know nothing of the code and infrastructure of the game, and how difficult it would be to lay out for the team.
