That's why I won't have hothing to do with steam. They had a big hack years ago. That's what kept me from joining them. Sorry, no thanks.

Yes, Steam is the only company in the world that has been hacked

I haven't heard of anything recent, have you? Maybe hackers got his password by hacking another board and he doesn't use different passwords for different sites?

Did the OP use Steam's security settings for his account? Is he\she vigilant in their own online security?

If I'm singed out of my Steam account, or any account for that matter, I have settings that make me jump through hoops to get back in. I even do that on my desktop at home instead of using the "remember this computer" option. Sometimes we have to take some responsibility for our own security.

This board not long ago took away the "thanks" button because it was a risk. Should we resign from these forums too?

The strangeness of the first post makes me think that this persons OOTP account has been hacked. I considered reporting it as spam last night.

Maybe I'm just lucky but my Steam account has been active for 11+ years with no issues. Hope I don't jinx myself here.

Wait...Steam, a completely independent and unaffiliated company than OOTP, had a security breach, so therefore you will never be an OOTP customer again?

If you still control the e-mail account that Steam is linked to, you can gain control back of your Steam account.

Oh, I get it. Well that sucks. I wish I had more experience with Steam such that I could offer some advice. There must be some sort of customer service contact over there that can help. I'm sure this is not the first time such an event has occurred.

Anyways...Steam is working fine for me. But I don't use OOTP on Steam. Probably the only game I don't have on Steam. Well..I do have Field of Glory2 separate too.

Speaking of gift cards. There is a gift card scam going on now. I've gotten a scam alert from my bank this morning. That's all I'm going to say.
