Historical Tournament setting/ideas

Back in the day of Earl Weaver Baseball on the Commodore 64. I use to run Best of Teams of each organization, getting the info at the time out of the BOOK, baseball encyclopedia. Just getting back into OOTP after being away for 6 years (Still have my OOTPX & 11 disks), I saw the option to have a historical tournament. So I went through the teams from 1900 & up, took teams that moved locations (Phi A’s, KC A’s & Oak A’s, ex), not just changing their nicknames (Bos Braves, Doves, Beaneaters, etc..) and came up with 43 teams. I took what I felt was their best season, there were some tough ones to decide.
Top 5.
1909 Pirates (.721)
1954 Indians (.718)
2001 Marines (.716)
1927 Yankees (.713)
1907 Cubs (.700)

The Majority of the Teams picked won the World Series, that is the main goal of a season. ’54 Indians Lost world series but had one of the best w/l records and the 2001 Marines have the most wins even though they lost in the ALCS. Of the 43 teams, 29 World Series winners, 9 playoff losers and 5 (39-43) never made it to the playoffs (1961-71 Senators (Tex), 1901-02 Bal Orioles (NYY), 1901-54 KC Athletics (Oak), 1969 Sea Pilots (Mil Brewers) and 1901 Mil Brewers (Bal Orioles)

Still have some seeding that needs tie breakers for, but will use DH 1973-current for AL teams (if possible) and for NL Teams that have away games against a AL DH team.

For those who have done historical and/or tournaments, looking for some suggestions on things I might not have taken into consideration for rules. Still deciding on 3/5/7 game series.

Another tournament I might do is best Pitcher of each team, for example, 1972 Steve Carlton 27-10 1.97 Phi Phillies and do one off games of the 43 teams. 1963 Sandy Koufax 25-5 1.88 (11 Sho) Los Angeles Dodges. 1968 StL Cardinals Bob Gibson 22-9 1.12 (13 sho).

For a sample test deciding between ’69 miracle mets and 86 mets, did a 3 games series and 86 won 2-1. I took 86 based on their 108 wins anyway. I did take into consideration that wins towards the end of the season and already won their division or top seed, teams didn’t need to really win games.

So thoughts/suggestions appreciated, thanks
