Inaccurate Historical Discrepancies

Hello! I’ve had OOTP since 17 and decided to see the difference between the teams in that game vs. playing 22 and going back and starting a historical game. I found that a lot of the players ratings were different and a lot of the ratings were very different as well. In addition a whole bunch of prospects are missing in the 22 version. Just kind of curious why the discrepancy. I would love to play as the 2017 Cubs and try to build the dynasty that never was but a lot of the players ratings are way down in 22 as opposed to 17 (especially coming off winning the World Series) and their farm system lacks Eloy and Cease. Just looking for some color! Thanks!
