22 teams, 2x11 subleagues, 162 games

Howdy.

Longtime player, first-time poster, please advise if I am doing something wrong.

I'm getting ready to start a 22-team league, and for the first time in my OOTP life, I'm in a little over my head with the schedule.

There are several 4-division schedules on this board already, but that doesn't really fit the league, and the 2-division schedules don't balance to 162 games.

What I want is...

2 subleagues, each with 1 division of 11 teams each

66 games - 6 x 11 teams in the other league
96 games - 10 x 6 teams and 9 x 4 teams in the same league
162 games total, to no surprise

In theory, you'd play...

6h/4a vs. 3 teams in your league
6a/4h vs. 3 teams in your league
6h/3a vs. 2 teams in your league
6h/3a vs. 2 teams in your league
3h/3a vs. all 11 interleague foes

I'm thinking something reasonably standard... start on the first Monday in April (or March 31), All-Star break in about the second week of July.
Inquire if you have further questions because I'm not sure what else I need to specify.

I'd try to build this for you, but I'm too novice to do so.

But in my early attempt, I have a question for the more experienced schedule builders.

Creating a 22-team league as described is easy. Just seeing how OOTP's schedule would create this, though, I'm getting wacky results.

One, despite 162 games specified, the scheduler only creates between 146 - 150 games.

Two, IIRC OOTP can't create interleague schedules. So, a schedule like this has to be planned by hand and then manually created in OOTP. Yes?

Basically I'd like to learn more about how to create OOTP schedules without spending 10 hours on each season doing so.

Happy to help create schedules for requests, but I definitely need to understand the best way to do it first.

I could not exactly do what is requested but it is very similar. I modified a schedule I had done before (156 Games for 22 Teams)https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...32&postcount=5, introducing 4-game series.

Inside the Subleague, 8 teams play 7/7 against 3 opponents and 6/6 against 7 opponents.

3 Teams play 7/7 against 2 opponents and 6/6 against 8 opponents.

For the Interleague, teams play 3 home or 3 away against 10 opponents, and 3/3 against 1 remaining team.

For the 3 teams playing 7/7 against 2 opponents and 6/6 against 8 opponents in there subleague, the 3/3 matchup in the Interleague is 4/4.

It looks complicated but it works. I am posting the matrix of the schedule as well as a 10-pack of schedules, mixing the teams every season.

Here are the details about the schedules.

22 team schedule, 162 games
Designed for the following configuration:
2 subleagues, each with 1 division of 11 teams

14 (7H/7A)or 12 (6H/6A) games against other 10 teams in division
6 (3H/3A) or 8 (4H/4A) games against 1 teams in other sub-league
3 (3H or 3A) games against 10 teams in other sub-league

No cases of more than 17 straight days without offday
No homestands or roadtrips longer than 10 games
Game times set at 7:05pm 1:05pm 2:05pm 4:05pm with Sunday games at 1:05pm

Season begins last Thursday on or after March 28
Season thus ends late September/early October

All-Star Game set for Tuesday of 15th week of season (early/mid-July)

After doing the 10 schedules, I realized that one schedule would probably work for multiple consecutive season. But since I have done them...

I revisited that schedule trying to make it more as what was requested. Although, the setting seemed pretty easy, making the schedule was kind of difficult. I usually try to have no more than 3 consecutive home or away series, here it happens that there are a few stretches of 4 consecutive home or away series.

I am including the Matrix of the schedule in the post.

Here are the details of the schedule:

22 team schedule, 162 games
Designed for the following configuration:
2 Sub-leagues, each with 1 division of 11 teams

10 (4H/6A or 6H/4A) or 9 (6H/3A or 3H/3A) games against other 10 teams in division
6 (3H/3A) games against all the teams in other Sub-league

No cases of more than 13 straight days without offday

No homestands or roadtrips longer than 13 games

Game times set at 7:05pm 1:05pm 2:05pm 4:05pm with Sunday games at 1:05pm

Season begins last Thursday on or after March 28
Season thus ends late September/early October
Allstar Game set for Tuesday of 16th week of season (early/mid-July)
