Playoffs fromat change not working properly
Hi,
I am currently playing in an online league with 32 GMs where we started from a standard save on FHM 6 with the 2014-2019 playoffs default format (prior covid). We have now just moved to FHM 7 and as we wanted to change our playoffs format to the NHL 1999-2013 format. We have ran some tests only to find out it doesn't work out properly. Seeding and standings seems completly broken as the pictures attached will show. It seems like the game takes the top 8 teams from each conference but then playoffs have 1vs16, 2vs15 etc. and all conference get mixed up on each side of the brackets. During the first season after the changes some teams with less points also finish in front of other teams in standings. It seems that the games takes the two 1st teams from divisions and place them above the two 2nd teams from divisions and then in front of 3rds and 4ths in each conference but then you get the 1vs16 etc. in playoffs. After the first season I tried removing divisions in each conference to only had 1 thinking this might have solved the issues but it doesn't. It still gets 1vs16 etc. and teams from both conference mixed up in the brackets during playoffs. I then tested the same use of playoffs format in a fresh FHM 7 standard save and also had the same issues with standings and seeding. On top of that, and I had previously reported this bug, changing the playoffs format seems the mess up the draft order (some teams drop more than they should, non-playoffs teams draft after some playoffs teams). This is quite frustrating cause we'd like to use a different playoff format in our league I FTP'ed a file called E-SL-TEST. Note: pictures on top are from our online league, and picture bellow from the standard FHM 7 save test. Thanks for helping. Last edited by Vangodth; 07-04-2021 at 01:26 AM. |

I've had the same problem with that playoff format. As far as I know they never fixed it. I had to switch to the 2014-2019 format to get something reasonably close to what I want.

Can you PM me the commissioner password for the save? I'd like to see some of the details of the league setup.

The problem was the removal of the divisions from the league structure - that playoff format needs the divisions intact, since the divisional winners are seeded in the top playoff spots. With no divisions, the first-round matchup logic breaks, and it produces odd results like the ones you're seeing.
