Somewhere in Iowa...
Descriptions from Philip J. Lowry's excellent book Green Cathedrals :
Occupant: American League Chicago Black Sox Capacity: 84 Surface: Grass and Iowa's best farm soil Dimensions: Left Field - 281 Center Field - 314 Right Field -262 (Current photos show right field as being much longer - probably around 320 - TS) Fences: None (April corn just planted); 1 (May corn); 2 (June corn); 3 (July corn); 4 (August corn); 6 (September corn); 8 (October corn) Former Use: Cornfield Phenomena: This is the only current Major League ballpark without dugouts... The small bleachers are moved regularly to mow the grass underneath. They consist of seven rows of 12 seats each. The top row seat closest to home plate still has the heart carved into it where Ray Kinsella declared his love for his wife Annie... My personal note - In addition to Shoeless Joe, Moonlight Graham and the Black Sox - I would also like to think that Darryl Kile shows up to play every now and then. Here is a link to the bitmap of this park: Field of Dreams Enjoy! |

played there
I have taken batting practice there about 6 years ago. When I was in high school my family took a road trip there, it was awesome. It is actually quite a small field so props on the dimensions. I hit several balls into the corn that i had to later retrieve.

Yeah, we got to play there also but it was about 1989 or 1990.

Absolutely incredible work, TS. It's probably already been posted but, is there a place where these parks are centrally hosted? Are they on Henry's site?
EDIT: Nevermind. I just found it.
