Game keeps resetting HOOK settings

Elsewhere I responded in a thread another player had raised this issue. In a fictional league I am using 1984 stats and it is working well. The game started in 1946 and reached 1976. However, the game went from DEFAULT (which I don't know exactly what that means) to -5 Quick Hook for both starters and relievers.

So I changed to +1 for HOOK for both starters and relievers. I ran my 1977 season and saw decent innings for starters. However when 1977 updated, the game changed HOOK to -1 for both. Bear in mind the 1984 stat settings are producing 1984 levels as I hoped for.

None of the other selections on this screen have changed at all.

So why are they HOOK settings changing? Why are they the only settings changing. Why has this changed from OOTP 21 and prior versions?
