What Leagues do you Start with besides MLB?

Which international or independent leagues do you select for your start?

All except WBC.

Interesting note, not sure if the current patch addressed it, but in some of the American independent leagues, reserve rosters had no limit, and they were stockpiling like 90 low-a/dsl/instructional league level talents for EACH TEAM. Fixed it manually, but it made me go “OH, so THATS what happened to all the young FA’s!”

Colonel:

I use all but the WBC as well.

Looking for some... guidance I guess?

I have started two 2021 MLB games with the latest patch to serve as a "warmup" of sorts into OOTP this year. No modifications to settings.
1. Phillies as GM/Manager (all games simulated)
2. Tigers as GM only (all games simulated)

First of all, I understand neither of these teams is an easy draw, particularly the poor Tigers. But at least they have a good farm system. The Phillies cupboard is BARE.
With the Phillies I hired a superb Head Scout to get the ship tacking the right direction and one or two minors Head Coaches to improve player dev. I also made some changes to the roster, tried to eliminate dead weight contracts (pretty successful), but I could never reach .500 like the Owner wanted in goals come early August.

The Tigers I knew were going to be a slog-fest. AJ Hinch is great, I changed to a Bench Coach a bit better with the same "normal" personality. Made a bunch of dead-weight lightening moves, improved the defense but in the first month the team went 2-26 and the clubhouse was "Feuding". Guess I can't blame them.

My "something isn't quite right" bump is itching, but I can handle the blame if it is on me.

In Philly I traded away Zach Eflin because even when July came around he was 0-7 with an ERA above 7. Hell, even our ace Nola was 6-7 with an ERA in the 4s. Their defense isn't the greatest, so... yeah, not sure. Oh, and Harper was hitting .223 with 19 homers in August. Uggh.
I could say the same about the general sh#tshow in Detroit, the pitching staff just got hammered day after day, despite improving the defense around them at 1B and LF.

So... is it just me or does the game just punish the hell out of human teams? Not so much trades or periphery stuff, but wins and players playing to their ability on average. Granted, the Tigers are a hard pick, but I thought the Phillies should have played .500 ball by August.
Am I off-base or just in need of a settings adjustment Colonel?
Thanks!
Pdub

How is the Phillies defense? Citizens Bank Park needs ground all pitchers...plus outside of Nola and Wheeler, who else is in the rotation?

Pretty sure it was the rest of the usual suspects. Unfortunately, the save is in never, never land now. Fit of pique you know.

I don't believe this is changed in the last patch, but we can certainly look at fixing it up for the next one

In one of my longest-running games I had MLB, all US indy leagues, KBO, ***, and Cuba. I never really noticed these leagues having much impact (in terms of the players that would come over to MLB), and it seemed like all it did was cause my game to run slower. This year, I'm just doing KBO and ***, and I really only do this because I like to see which former MLB'ers move abroad and how they do and seeing them come back to the MLB at some point. Adds a little bit more variety and storylines.

Runs slower.... That is the key.....
There are settings with level of detail you wish to keep.
I have i7, 64GB ram and tons of HD.
I wish there was documentation on how the level of detail you keep effects performance.

I assume the game doesn't keep more stats because of performance...but we are in 2021 and computers are obviously more equipped to handle data.

I never considered how extra world team effect performance as i normally play MLB and minors.

I wish there was a switch for those of us to turn to who want MORE stat detail at player and team level over history of however long you want to sim and what leagues. I will sacrifice some sim speed if i can all the data!

LOB, grand slams, inside park HRs, Pick Offs, sacrifice hits attempted, bunt hits attempted, triple plays, total pitches strikes/balls, percentage, Days injured, days not played coaches decision.......everything, give it to me. Let me create my own measures.
Let me export to data to vertipaq engine and run DAX on it

Update the almanac to make it easier to export and archive.

Space is cheap
