Thumbs up Playing with camera "movement dealy" & "transition time" to improve watching games

Yeah, long title I know

While the dynamic camera still has some issues in it's infancy I am finding it a nice addition to v22. Transitions, especially on ground balls in my game were a little hard to follow as the camera view would change. Often times never really seeing the throw but just finding the ball in mid flight to the end of the play. As I played yesterday I had the idea to change these settings (movement delay and transition time) as I watched a replay over and over. I tried a ton of different mixes between the movement delay and the transition time. I continued to rinse and repeat the same replay until I found settings that worked for me to improve the in-game experience.

I'll be posting a screen of my settings but, for me, this is a big improvement. A slight delay as the batter hits the ball and much improved transitions allowing me follow the entire play. I now see the infielder start the throw, the camera changes, and the end of the play kind of flows Balls hit to the OF also look much better and I'm even getting better views of throws coming in from the OF. Something I hope stays consistent across all parks since I've only used this in two parks so far. Of course there is still the occasional dynamic view that loses the action but not nearly as bad or as often.

I've played out two more games using these settings in two different stadiums. So far so good

Thanks. I'm gonna give 'em try right now. I wish there was a easily reset to default though. I find myself taking a screenshot, so I can go back if I've messed things up too much, while trying different things.

Looks like the trick is too not follow the ball. That helps.

Gave them a shot. I liked the slowed down gameplay as I was playing at slightly fast. The thing is, I found that many time the ball hit down the corners, the camera was slow in changing and the play was not viewable

I like "Follow the ball" so I turned it back on. I know it isn't perfect, but I do like it. I also changed the camera zoom to get in a little closer. I really like the speed changes you're proposing. Thanks!

I wonder if that is due to available cameras? Balls hit to the OF for me have not had that issue. It is more of the occasional throw that isn't seen because of a bad dynamic camera selection.

In any case I'm working on getting my cameras fine tuned for each stadium after copying from my original Wrigley to all others. It takes a bit to get each one in the right place and sometimes due to configurations some views don't work well. Think about huge scoreboards in CF that screw up the view.

I'll try to get these ootp.3d files finished up later today and see if there is a way to get them out for others to try.

After playing with this for a bit I was excited to try the follow ball again. Yeah, still doesn't work for my eyes.

I did try to grab a screen shot of my HP action cam but when doing from highlights or replay it only comes out as a black screen? I'll have to try during an actual game. FWIW it is only a modified "wide" view to take in the whole field as the ball is hit. Calling it "action" makes it easier to spot when I change things for a replay and then change it back.

One other thing to take from this that, at least I found useful, is using a replay to try and test different speeds over and over until you find something that works for you

Just tried your recommended settings and indeed a noticeable improvement in visual flow. Thanks for doing the research on this.

Looking forward to my first full game tonight in Silvam's Shea Stadium, long live the OOTP Community !

Always the best source for tips, tweaks, and terrific mods

For camera views I removed OF LINE I added field level 1st and 3rd base cameras instead which has worked so far for me but I just tried your suggestions for settings and I am loving the camera switches now even more!!

Glad to see some are enjoying this setting. I've played a few games now and am very happy with the results in my game.

I did finally get all of my cameras set for the new v22 parks. All of the defaults are still in though some have been tweaked. Some stadiums are hard to work around their configurations IE big scoreboards and domes get in the way.

Not sure if this will work as I've never done it but I'll attach a zip with all 30 park "OOTP.3d" files. Of course backup any originals before putting in your game. Afraid you'll have to manually put each into it's individual park folder under models. Of course it may be best to just put in one park's file at first to see before going all in.

Off the top of my head in addition to defaults there is
behind each dugout
RF to CF
CF to LF
behind each side of IF
CF very high and far back to show entire field
"HP action" that I use as the action cam (duh )

Normally in game I go with
Wide or default prepitch
HP for pitch
HP action for action

The long CF is turned off for dynamic (though in the file it's possible I missed doing that in all stadiums) Other that that I have all available.
RF-CF and CF-LF are pretty cool for HR replays

At 55 kb I hope attaching this for d'load doesn't break any forum rules? If so mods feel free to remove the file.

Thanks! I just tried for Fenway and it looks like it works. I'm terrible at camera settings, so this was REALLY helpful. You're the best!

Hope you enjoy them.

Check out the CF view of Fenway. Because of configuration the camera is off center but I think it is one of my favorites. It really shows off the park and
how, like my Wrigley, it has it's own friendly confines.

It is the wide camera just zoomed in a bit. It simply brings the field closer while still keeping both foul poles just on the screen.

I used "action" in the description since I use it for the action cam and make it easier to locate in the camera menu when switching back from other views I use for replays.
