Skybox 2021

For those unfamiliar with the skybox process:

1. Unzip the file at the link.
2. Drop the two folders, sky_box_day and sky_box_night, into the folder your 3d model is in...presto! Instant fun sky.

I was out yesterday (4/18) all day getting new shots as Mrs. Cobb, G'Kar, Na'Toth, and I drove about. I hit the Leelanau Peninsula and managed a few fine shots. Spring isn't in full swing yet. I am marking some great locations for fall foliage, though. A long, cold winter has given me time to study up on better technique and choose much more viable ballpark locations. Sadly, over water shots are still problematic for boxing.

For those of you who aren't lucky enough to live in the paradise of Northern Michigan, the air was crisp and clean, there was nobody about at Leelanau State Park to speak of, the dogs and Mrs. Cobb walked the beach with me, and sunset over the Big Water was glorious!

Bugai Road, on the Leelanau Peninsula

Day and 'shopped night versions. Stadium model used is Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field, from the gohorns98 collection. Cameras are from Mizzourah's work.

If you guys have suggestions for improvements or ideas for settings, I'm all ears. Remember TWO things:

1. Water usually results in disastrously glitchy images. This is a limitation of the software I have access to, and cannot be overcome.
2. Fences/Railings/close-up-power lines do the same thing. Again, it's a software issue that's just plain out of my hands.

I'm going to be testing some different techniques as the weather improves. If anyone hears of an editor for 360 panoramic images thats affordable, I'm listening!

I'd love some visual feedback.

In Mt. (Un)Pleasant, MI today on the campus of CMU. Fresh skyboxes...not just wooded scenes this time.

Mount Pleasant Michigan

A grassy field on the campus of Central Michigan University. Pretty clean sky. Enjoy!

No, it isn't. There's a process involved to create one. Still working up a nice tutorial for the near future. Waiting for our weather to warm just a bit before I go out into the field for video of the process.

any idea why the game doesn't use an evening sky box even though there is an option for an evening background? I only see day and night.

No, I do not. I'm not sure where the closest railyard of any size is, but I'd bet it's at best in Detroit, at worst Chicago. If so, I won't be there. I don't like to go into the megacities at all, and I avoid transportation hubs like those or airports because I don't want to end up on a DHS wallboard somewhere. If I say anything else, I'm sure the forum social police will strike me dead for discussing politics, but I'm sorry...that's not likely to happen. Darn shame too...that would make an AWESOME backdrop.

No problem. I thought I would ask. Yes a nice backdrop for the older parks and the some minor league parks. Thanks for answering.
